As the title states I am looking to see what people are using for oil filter during break inn? Initially I will be using cheap oil and filter just for the first start up, once it is up to operating temp I want to switch to better oil and filter. What do you use (brand) and why for your oil filter during break inn? Thanks.

Drop in a FRAM since it's gonna be changed out in a quick anywhos - it'll capture the metal stuff okey since you're going cheap on the oil ...

..or head to Auto"CRAP"zone to grab on to one of their oil and filter deals and they have to use the cheapest filters out there for this package.

I've blown fram filters right off the block. They also filter out additives in the oil that are put in for enhancements. Don't use a fram. If you're going cheap use napa or carquest.

Napa filters are Wix filters they make a Economey Filter IE Pro select or a Napa Gold but both are made by WIX.

Wix or Napa gold is my opinion too, and stay away from fram. Personally I use K&N filters only, but that's just me. Watch out for filters with the bypass at the bottom, that are designed to flush all the crap into your engine when the pressure bypass pops open. Especially watch out for filters with a non-coil (leaf) type spring on the bypass valve, as they can pop open on cold starts, and never fully close, thus rendering the filter useless.
