so we had a big snow storm in western pa a few weeks ago (surprise) and after a night of messing around the local mall and not having any close calls..i do a three point turn and ever so softly tap a curb.. did more damage than i imagined.. i got home and relized my intercooler bracket was bent and my the ic pinched my oil cooler lines...great. i understand its cold out and my oil probably isnt going to reach insane temps when its 10 degrees out but ive kinda put off replacing them..am i going to do any serious damage?

Isn't there a pump that makes the oil run throug those lines? What would happen to that pump if it were to try and push fluid but couldn't? Wouldn't it make that pump wear out prematurely?

i have to agree with talipse96, if the line is restricted it will build up pressure and the pump is still going to try to force oil through, and all that build up pressure causes excess work for your pump and can cause it to go out "prematurely"

Get it fixed. Its wrong to think that a problem is going to fix its self or be just fine when its odviously broken. I know you were just wondering. You did the right thing, you didn't know so you asked. Just make sure that it gets fixed before it causes any harm to your car. By the way, welcome to the site.

ok sorry i havent been on but i took it down to the towns local "tuners shop" and figured he had something laying around i need. nope. he also wasn't sure if oil or coolant ran thru those lines..i couldn't answer that haha so he pointed me to a hydrolic shop in town. ill be heading there for some prices for some ss braided lines.. if its lookin pricey i might as well just get a new cooler and ss braided lines online. but thanks for the insight.. it makes more sense now.
