oil and exhaust

ok is oil supposed to smell like exhaust i pulled out my dip stick and it smelled like exhaust and gas really bad

oil is supposed to smell like oil. If your oil smells like gas, then you got leak and gas is mixing with your oil.

so ahh yeah i am guessing that is bad in some way.... what would cause this or what is a commone diagnosis for this problem

copression test. Usually, the only way for fuel and exhaust to get to the oil pan is past the rings. How many miles on the engine? Could be time for a rebuild.

just hit 140k it has always ran well though
