I plan on shaving my rear wiper after all. I ditched the fog lights momentarily also. This leaves me with potentially 3+ blank switches (blank, fog, wiper...) in the factory spots. I alreaded raided a doner for extra switches... Heres what I found:

-Pop-up light switch is an on/off toggle with one normally closed, one normally open contact, both which share a common contact. = Instant on/off switch.

-The fog light switch has the same/similar story here I think... I havent confirmed yet.
-The Hazard is also (i grabbed an extra) similar to the pop-up in function.

-The rear defroster is pretty puzzling. Im gonna let it do its factory thing. It is strictly momentary from my ohm meter tests. I guess it trips the 11 minute defroster timer, and has a indicator light as well. Its too confusing to play with.

-The rear wiper is a surprisingly practical switch. It looks like it could be a main switch for button key-less start. each rocker position locks and maintains contact, on/off have a common contact, int has an isolated circuit.
This would require pretty extensive relay usage (including a "latching" relay, but should feel intuitive.
Int= off (same as key out)
Off= acc (same as key position 1)
On= acc+ign (2nd key position)
Push/Spray (momentary)= starter, release once started just like a key.

The switch part is easy, now for security, I will probably be retrofitting one of these kits unless something else becomes available.

I would hope to retain steering wheel lock functionality, but I doubt that will be possible. A starter interrupt and/or fuel interrupt will help greatly (integrate with FP rewire)

I could then proceed to integrate my lc-1 calibration switch/led into the defroster if i ever figure it out.

And maybe something cool/ ricerish into the others, like my DP cutout arming switch, or a NAWZ-YO arming switch.

I doubt I have factory security. I do have an AWD, the owners manual has no indication of a security/alarm feature. I guess my original owner cheaped out here...

I found some more potential RFID "plug and play kits" I would really like to add to this list and get some input if possible.
"K9 sombra" -simple unlock/ lock alarm with arming inputs/outputs, default rfid operation.

i know a lot of people that have used a wiper switch as a push button start or under hood ignition switch for maintainance. its a cheap/easy alternative.

Cool. I actually made a wire harness for it last night. I just went ham last month at the junkyard. I found a 1ga and gutted everything electrical and a ton of interior peices to try and mess around with them.

So far I have fog and hazard on the left as extras already wired, ready to do something. And Im finishing the wiper button starter now. Also finally decided to shave the rear wiper all together. I shaved a random antenna hole and the oem antenna holes 2 months ago, and I like the idea of a shaved ass :sneaky:

Anyway, cant wait to order one of the previousley mentioned proximity rfid sensors so I can have a 1992 factory looking push button start without a key :thumb:

UPDATE 1:
Heres the switch in action.

Now all im waiting to do is source a rfid fob/reader or a cheap kit. The ones I found already seem pretty steep. I dont really want a remote start. If I do, I have 2 on my other cars... Ill pass on another $400+ alarm/start system.

Im looking for active rfid im pretty sure. Passive is still on my mind, but im starting to get over its reliability vs lack-of-range factor. Actually, an active normal setup, with a parallel passive key card just in case i loose battery in the fob.

So heres what I have left to accomplish:
-RFID of some sort for security, active w. passive backup
-Defeat steering wheel lock, see if it is possible to use an actuator to operate w/o lock cylinder
-Fuel/starter interrupt
-Anti grind for starter motor (so it doesnt start while engine is running) is there an easy source I can tap and use a relay to control the antigrind?

My phone has NFC/RFID. How awesome would it be to unlock/start my car with my phone? :hellyeah:

It would be pretty bad ass. I found a cheap RFID alarm system that I integrated.

Only problem with cell phone rfid, is that programmable readers are freaking expensive. like mulit hundred to thousand dollar expensive, unless you can program your own on a specific simple frequency.

The last step (besides the fuel pump and ignition interrupt relays) Would be a solenoid to defeat the steering wheel lock.

Ill post a more updated vid eventually. I have other priorities with the car (performance > convenience)
