ok so i changed all 4 hubs on my awd and have a vibration starting at 60 at goes away almost fully at 73ish. but it keeps just a tad of a shake in the wheel depending on road surfaces. when i had changed 3 of the 4 hubs, all the vibration was gone almost, and now the 4th has been changed it's back. the 4th hub was seized on the axle splines and did not want to come off, so could that possibly ruin the axle. i know it was heated up to get it off, but missed the rest. (had college...).

i was also thinking it may be tires, they have been balanced but maybe because they are the cheap nexen n3000 ebay tires i don't know. any thing i should look for in the axles, joints, or driveshats that may lead me to the cause?

Thanks in advance, this has got me baffled and i have worked on cars for about 4 years now.

tires are all new, with less than 4k, and they are all true round. the struts are good as far as i can tell by ride and look, but wonder still what is making it shake so badly. it very clearly shakes the whole car all the way to 70+ from 60. will put it on a hoist saturday and check driveshafts and axles.

You don't balance tires, dude. You balance the wheels. Most of the time, after you work on suspension-components, you should consider an alignment. Your wheels may need a balance anyway. Or you did mess up your axle.

you know what i mean when i say they have been balanced though, and the vibration seems to be getting better as i drive it. but i am in the process of getting some Kumho ASX's since i am driving the car in the winter this year. allignment is good as far as belle tire says too. i'll take some pics of the axles and stuff Saturday when i have it on a hoist.

on my 90 gsx i had the same it was a U-joint starting to go bad on the driveshaft. it was hella expensive but it took car of the vibration. Also when i jacked it up you could not see it at all but i could see rub marks on the area around it.

I then call it just crappy tires. My car did the same thing before putting a new set on since, prior, I had them check for balance and roundness and still had the basic shakes around the same speed.

But failing "U-joints" aint fun to have either and can emit nasty vibrations - best get them checked out pronto! You don't want the front end joint suddenly go for it will jackknife you up you real bad. I've seen 4x4's flipped over on the side of the road due to an drive line came loose in the front and it totally shot the vehicle in the air when that end dug in the ground and then come down crashing hard.

well Saturday at class, I will put it on a hoist and take a look and some pictures. i may do a U-joint or tires, pending which is cheaper and what i see underneath of it. I am doing a trans/T-case and rear end drain and fill too. ATF4 for the trans, and royal purple for the rear and T-case.

Check your axles, alignment and even your tie rods. I had a similar problem just occur after purchasing my GSX and it turned out to be a bad outter tie rod. Just food for thought! Good Luck!

throwing a random suggestion in here (i didnt read all replies)

i had/have a vibration because of my exhaust vibrating against the underbody, more specifically the rear driver control arm. the thing is that i can feel it in the peddle, etc.
