Odd Vibrating sound At 3000 Rpm?

Just as the title says. I get a Vibration that i can hear and feel in the steering wheel from 2700-3000 RPMS and then it is gone. It sounds like metal vibrating against something.

I tried to have a buddy rev it to 3000 in the driveway in nuetral while i listened under the car, but it doesn't do it....only in drive, and in all gears.

Anyone have a clue?

The 4cyls harmonics tend to be greatest around the 3-4K RPM level. I'd look to see if you've any loose/worn engine mounts and or exhaust hangers.
