So I was driving my car tonite, and after taking a turn I accelerated normally through 1st, and 2nd gear, After accelerationg through 3rd the car suddenly thumped and the motor died.

I checked everything. and the gears shift fine and clutch works etc. and when I try to start it all I hear is the starter spinning like the teeth are missing. So it doesnt crank the motor.

Help!

Put a socket on the crank pulley bolt and try to turn it. If the engine won't budge then you probably have seized a bearing or something on that order. I would then remove the oil pan and do a visual to see if you can find something discolored or perhaps even little shards of metal sticking out around a crank journal or rod journal.

Good Luck

Not to sure what the full story is on the head and pistons. But thats really not an issue right now. Car is going under the knife for a brand new head. etc.

I've seen belts snap and not bend valves. It's rare though. Was the belt old? When you put the new one in, be sure you replace ALL the idlers and the auto tensioner. That way you get a whole new lease on life.

Good Luck
