Alright guys need a quick question answered!

Im looking @ a built head that has been o-ringed i was just wondering if i could run this head with the Mistu MLS headgasket that i just ordered?

Thanks!

You ussually o-ring only one matting surface and more times that not it is the head that is oringed. People have used MLS head gaskets with orings but I would always pick an OEM composite for an oring job

You could probably still use it. But its a very good idea to have your block o-ringed.

Well im not doing all that then......

Only reason i was intrested was because of the price......

Thanks again guys!

I think you would be fine with it, like viperlp01 said you only o-ring one side. Like on my friends car the block is o-ringed and the head is not, but we used a oem composite hg. So there's nothing more u really have to do, just make sure it seals well. FYI we tried a copper hg and was a fail it wouldn't seal right so I believe oem's the way to go.

You machine the deck to accept a stainless wire "ring" and machine a matching reciever groove in the head. Use a copper head gasket and when you torque the head down the stainless wire forces the copper gasket up into the reciever groove. That is where the additional sealing comes from. You use this method when running lots of boost or high compression and spray.

Don't use copper wire. When the head is torqued down it will compress the copper and simply fill the groove. Defeats the purpose.

Absence of a receiver groove will not allow the gasket to conform to the o-ring. Might as well not waste your time machining the block.

MLS or composite gaskets won't conform properly to the ring and groove and using anything other than a copper gasket would be counter-productive.

thats odd, i had my head o ringed by m2 racesystems, they also do brent raus head and dogbox racings heads. we all use the mitsu mls head gasket and if it works for brent rau it will work for everyone here. Brian Portilla from dogbox racing ran a 150shot of nitrous on top of 35psi on a t4 35r and never had an issue. Not to say copper wouldnt work

Copper head gaskets suck... Period. Waste of money unless you have a nitro dragster that you use it as a fuse. I have seen a ton of people run mitsu composites with 0.030 stainless steel welding
wire oringed on the head. Some have seen +40 psi and into the 70 lb/min airflow without problems. Seriously the head will lift before you have sealant problems.
