NT's/ turbo: 1/4mile times and Dyno #'s

It is a proven fact that turbochargers are the single most efficient power-adder there is. Nitrous is a good one but can't touch a turbo.

Turbo: ebay turbo
Kit: custom
Engine: built with Wiseco pistons and eagle rods
Head:stock
Boost:8
Best 1/4 time: [email protected] w/ a 2.55 60'

Guys like Randy and I keep the boost low for daily driving. I love being able to drop down a gear and get infront of that 18-wheeler.

I have way too high of trap speeds to be running a high 14. I also do my own tuning, which I would love to learn how to do before I crank that sucker up. I swear by my turbo as I could easily do this same swap over for half the money.

Any person that does a 420A-T swap will confess that they spent too much, but we didn't know any better; I could buy a 420A N/A and turbo it for half what I spent on my current baby.

This is just my .02. Enjoy.

Ok I wasn't gonna go in any kind of debat mode but link your post is hypocrytical. You say it's a fact that turbo is the most efficent power adder and nothing touches it but then say it's just your opinion:confused:

Nitrous is the cheapest hp per dollaR PERIOD. Turbo is a great thing and my favorite because of everything that comes with it but it is not always the best. Say you have two 420a cars with built engines and one is boosted with a big turbo that cost 1000 for the turbo alone to reach 500whp just for reference not saying that number is how much your make or not. You take a nitrous car spray it with a GIGANTIC shot like some 200+ shot or whatever craznyess you desire because hey your engine was built for it. You make the same hp but the nitrous kit will cost you $1000 period and it regulates it's own fuel so no need to do extra tuning. In my book that makes nitrous better. Like I said I still like turbo better but if the whine of a turbo the swoosh of a bov and not having to refill aren't things that appeal to you or matter then maybe you would like nitrous better.

WOW...brining back the dead....

yea my car has been upgraded just a little since then:sneaky:
but
my old set up has all gone into my daily driver and im just waitng to have more time so i can get my silver car running.

Hell i figure i would add to this thread. I went to the track lastnight probably for the last time this year. First two passes were allright(12.2s) but my third run was an 11.859 @ 117. I put some avenger rear springs on and they definetly work. My 60' went down about a tenth but recovering after shifts was much faster; it didnt sqaut nearly as much. These runs were at 18 lbs creeping to around 20 at the redline. Launched at 5200rpms and held on. I had 9 psi in my tires and i didnt spin at all. It was just hooking and going. 1.7 sixty footers are the shit. Anyways enough of me braggin, cant wait til next year.

Nice :thumb:. I'm loving it and hating it. Love the time (especially the sixty footer), I hate you because I'm under a foot of snow and can't race :p.

Avenger rears, huh? Any idea on the spring rate/strength differences? May be better than a blocked up stock rear spring.

Congrats,

MB

Avenger rear springs? Any change in the ride? Would TEIN's or Eibach's do the same thing? I'm wondering why Avenger springs..

They're taller/stiffer.... they help prevent the rear from squatting on launches.

Well I understand that but I'm asking; is it for a track car only? Like, would you only do that if the car was strictly track driven?

Would it cause an imbalance or oversteer/understeer if you were to use them for the street? I.E- Daily driver.

The only reason I wouldn't do this is my car stands too tall as it is raising the rear at all would make it look worse but you can't argue with the results. If more cars ran like his after a big buc turbo swap I would do that over spray even though I will have a very unique setup compared to most.

I dont know the spring rate differences but it is noticable difference. When i put them on i swear they dont look any different than the stockers to me but my ass end doesnt move now when i put my weight on it. ( Okay i weigh like 130 so that isnt saying too much). I dont know about how they ride on the street because my car doesnt see the street anymore, but at the track when I go through a bump my front ends absorbs the bump and my back end gives me a nice thump. As far as the ride height it is a little higher but i wouldnt say anymore than a half an inch or so. Yeah it did help with the sixty footer but i think the biggest difference is between shifts.

Well here is a link to the video. Its pretty blurry and shaky but you can at least see the launch decently, as well as the nice flash at the end of second when i hit the rev limiter.

:( MArk what boost was that pull done at I thought you were just traction challenged not power challenged.

Lol, don't worry, I'm not power challenged :p. As I try to show you guys, these things are a process. Set baselines and work from there. As I told you, I am right where I thought I would be.

BTW, my power level is around 360-370whp (with my current tune). You did get the story of my water pump pulley falling off, right?

Also, to give you an idea of where this set-up actually is, I usually pull 1.8's with my NA. I would imagine that I should be at least 1.7 with the turbo. With that launch alone I'm into the 11's. That's not including speed shifts which will drop her down more.

Not to worry, I'm barely touching the efficiency of this turbo.

I knwo you knwo your stuff not worried about you as much as the setup. Water pumps are overrated anyway LOL j/k. S366 is a 700hp turbo and you know this too just curious where you were at boost wise to only make 370whp. You know me of all people knows the deal with 10:5:1 and boost but I knew you had everything setup to squeek out some more psi than the average joe. Not saying the power or time is bad just thought you were making more with no traction. Calling this a baseline setup makes perfect sense too and shows a lot of potential:thumb:
