i have a 95 talon tsi awd. it idle'd just fine when i bought it, i drove it for a few weeks, then i started it one day and i wouldn't idle at all. it would rev up then die. and the cel light came on. i messed with the idle screw and drove it home. i cleaned the mas and the tb and still bad it'll idle anywhere from 200 rmp's up to about 2900 rpm's. autozone wont pull codes because the plug in is in the engine bay not by my feet. i dont know what to do anymore

To tell you the truth you haven't even scratched the surface, pulling that code would save you a lot of time trouble shooting it though. You've got to be a bit more descriptive about what the cars doing though... Does it start and die? Surge? Idle rich?

it'll start and chug pretty bad but i just adjust the idle screw and get it to about 1000 rpm's i have an exhaust leak so its hard to tell if im runnin rich or not. it just started to idle surge a bit. i need to pull codes but im not having any time with work

Could you show me a picture of where the diagnostic port is? I'm very curious to see this engine bay plug in. My 95 TSi AWD has OBDII in the footwell..

Buy (6) balloons, fill them with air, and write one item on each ballon off the list below. Then tack them to the wall, blindfold yourself, and throw a dart. Whichever ballon pops is the first thing you should try to replace, if it doesn't work throw another dart blindfolded...

Bottomline is theres a laundry list of things that can cause the symptoms your seeing this is why there are codes and your getting a CEL. Posting up here and asking for help is going to get you troubleshooting in circles because at this point your guessing...

There are a few things you can test using a multimeter if you cant get the code(s) pulled right away to eliminate a few things.
TPS
This is a diagram of a 1g TPS, the 2g is a (4) pin but the testing is the same.

-Check resistance between pins 1 & 4, you get between 3.5-6.5k ohms.
-Check resistance between pins 2 & 4 as you rotate the throttle plate open, the resistance should change smoothly.

ISC

Check resistance between the following pins, a good reading is anything between 28-33 ohms.
1 & 2
2 & 3
4 & 5
5 & 6

In the 2g service manual there is a way to read codes without A code reader.
Has something to do with turning the ignition on x number of times
I'll find it later when I'm home if you don't have a scanner or a nice friendly mechanic you're friends with
