Me again, just a little update on my progress for everyone to see!! I've talked to many people from this forum about turboing my car, and instead of showing them individually, i figured i'd just put it here, for everyone to see! Right now i'm just having some fitment issues with the turbo. The picture that you see with the turbo in, is without the wastegate actuator, with the flange in that location the actuator was hitting the starter. (but i'm getting the flange moved up about 1 1/2 inches

Thanks, yeah i'm getting there. The position of the flange has been hard to get in the right spot, I haven't yet but I think it should be good tomorrow after I get it rewelded in a new location! Wish me luck!

Good luck bro!

I know how it is to be so close to boost, but not quite there yet. I've finally got all the remaining parts on the way for my setup :rocks: Man I've had that turbo bolted on and taken off sooo many times since I got the darn thing back in MARCH ROFL

hoorah for force induced 420a power :dsm:

I hear that haha...Man it sucks! I have 3 more things coming...They're all minor, but required in order to finish install.. They should all be here this week. And i REALLY REALLY hope to boost by this weekend!!

I dunno how close the flange is on the manifold your getting modified, but the flanges on the star and hahn manifolds are basically right at the collectors.
Good luck

Well today I got the flange re welded. This time I had the car with me so we would get it right for sure. The turbo fits now, the outlet for the downpipe is looking close to the radiator hose already, so that's a concern. I might just take it up to where I got the manifold welded and have them fabricate something for me.

I'll post pics later if i have time.

Josh

Alright last night my friend and I made the downpipe for the car, here are some pictures of the dp and turbo on and some of the dp. Yes, the dp is held together by ducktape LoL i had to cut a bunch of triangular shaped peices to sort of make a curve in it, so I taped it together to hold until i get atleast get it tacked together. Anyways hope you like...

Josh - The setup looks good. Props on making that turbo fit like you did. How much longer before she's running?

Thanks alot man! You know you've helped alot haha. Well i'm waiting on one more part that should be here by this weekend, if I have time i will get the pipes welded this weekend or EARLY next week. So I am really shooting for by the next weekend!

Josh

me too, the anxiety is sooo intense!

one more week!!!1 :rocks:

YOu guys are going to love it, boos is crazy, oh and "I know gas is expensive, but you should really be filling up on premium gas now so any traces of regular is out of the filter and your motor all together.
I think that is a major thing people miss and is cause for concern when they go to fire up their brand new turbo set up and it starts to smoke or knock right away.

Well once I figure where to cut my pipes for IC I will probably put the headers back on until I get them all welded and ready to go on. So I guess during that time I will fill her up with premium. If I do that, should I not expect any knock or smoking??

Josh

Here are a few pics of my FMU set up

lookin gooood! :thumb:

The duct tape will hold. No need to tack weld it ROFL

Yeah well there is always the chance of smoking or knock, but premium should help.
Another thing to check is to make sure your fmu and fuel pump are hooked up correctly and in the right order and that all the fitings are tight. You do not want to starve the motor right off that bat, that will cause some serious trouble.

Your nipples look nice(on the FMU)! Glad to see pictures of it it looks nice and good luck on not letting the boost bug bite too hard! Enjoy, my friend, ENJOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Well I got my intercooler pipes welded today, test fitted them, and everything was good so I put all my N/A things back on, until I have the last few parts. Well I turned the car to "acc" just to make sure everything was good fuel wise, and alittle seaped out of the front hose over the nipple on the FMU, I tightened and tightened but nothing worked. , it's a small mod. and I somehow can't get it right LoL. Makes me feel like poopy. Anyways I have a few more things to try, I just ran out of time. Hopefully tomorrow will bring better luck, after work that is.

Wish me luck...again haha

Josh

P.S. thanks for all the nice comments/input, it's really appreciated

If your still have fuel leaking problems, I'd suggest saving up for some steel bradied lines, I'd rather your car run right and safe, then not run at all. Remember for fuel lines you should have at least 6an fittings.

Well...alittle update on my nipples...haha, nipples. Anyways, turns out, when I flared one of them, it made a little cut in it, and it spread when the flare was made. So fuel was able to squeeze out of that. So today I replaced it, and put 2 clamps on that one, and now i'm good!

I should be getting the downpipe welded together tomorrow..I hope atleast! When i get that done, all that is left is the oil lines!

Josh

It will be right after the coupler on the pipe that attatches to the one coming out of the hole, sorry, I didn't have a little piece of metal to attatch the flange to the pipe, so I couldn't get it welded yet.

Josh

Well guys, and girls...Today could be the day!! Unfortunantly I have to work until 8:45, and the guy who is welding my DP is doing it at 6..I have a few more things i need welded, so I'm trying to get off at 6(i'm a part-timer) so that I can bring the other things by his house and get them welded! I'll be running open DP for alittle, but as long as I have the boost!

Josh

It's on!! Well I finally got everything running! Unfortunantly I only got 2 PSI, but it was something!! I love the way that turbo sounded spooling up like that! haha! Unfortunantly I have another problem though. All of the oil leaked out somehow, the puddle forms underneath the passenger side where the filter is. When my friend and I got under the car we had a filter wrench and we tightened the filter another whole turn, without too much resistance...Do you think that could have been enough to allow oil to spew out?? I tightened all of the bolts for the pan as tight as I could get them before I thought they would break. I'm alittle worried about this prob. but anxious to get it fixed so I can hear that beautiful sound some more!! haha! any help is appreciated!

Thanks again for all your help!
