So over the weekend I bought a 1992 Gsx with a rebuilt/built motor and trans that had the receipts to prove it. The guy claimed he had the car tuned at English Racing but couldn't come up with any records to prove it (no dyno sheets or receipts). So my question is, how do I tell if the car was tuned and if it was tuned how was it done(Dsmlink, piggyback etc.)? It's obvious that they accessed the ecu as the kick panels and carpet in the passenger side where pulled along with the radio but how do I tell for sure?

No Boosted, it will retain whatever tune is in it. You will be looking for a ECMLink chip inside if it has link. It is similar to not having a battery in your car when you pull the ecu out for a look inside.

Ok cool, thanks for the info. I'm new to this whole ecu tuning, all my tuning experience is on old big block Mopars and 12 valve Cummins so this is a whole new ballpark for me.
