ok so my problem is that my car wont go any higher than 4,000 rpms. Once i try to go higher than 4,000 it starts jerking or studdering. ( a feeling like if you stalled a car) thought it was my Maf sensor because it was kinda broken from the lid so went i got a used working one but still the same thing. on cold starts, i take my car out and it doesnt want to go any higher than 3000 rpms. but instead of the jerking feeling it giives this sound of backfires. it only takes about 2 shift or 3 for the car to start hitting 4,000 rpms again. could the EGR Valve play any role in this?? My car has rough idles sometimes but idk if could be due to the camshafts? i have 1997 Eclipse Gst btw

Check your connectors around your intake pipe I'm not good with names but a cnnector that hooks to the intake pipe was loose on my car a while back and that's what didn't let me get past 3500-4000rpm

How are the plugs and wires? What do the plugs look like? What is their gap? It probably wouldn't be a bad idea to change the plugs and wires if it has been a while, or you're not sure when they were done. Also a boost leak test would be a good thing to do. Good luck.:)

this happened to me once on dsm link, my clutch switch was broke and 4000 rpm was my NLTS setting so my ecu thought I was always on the clutch. Something to look into if you have link i guess

i have nrg wires and idk about the plugs. guy that had the car did a tune up which is 4 months ago. i have stock 450cc injectors and i have my bov unrecirculated. i also do have a boost leak between the throttle body and the intake manifold. i also got one on the flange pipe weld.

Well, there you go. That would most likely be your problem. I would pull the plugs and take a look at them as well as check the gap to make sure it's at .028". Put in some NGK BPR6ES plugs if they're not already in there.

nope havent done it yet, ima try too see what i can do and ill let you guys no the result. so yesterday my friend told me to gain speed slowly nd then i went to 4500rpms?

You really have to use proper grammar & English when typing. Have no idea what you are trying to say.

Doesn't matter if you try to go slow or not. Driving it more or less is not going to cure the issue unless you do something about it. Boost leak test. Fix leaks. Progress. I would check your timing, plug gap, and intercooler piping.

ok from this you told me plenty...
1st fix your boost leak
2nd recirculate your bov
3rd check your plugs

checked my spark plug nd they were all burned. weird thing is that it had dry looking beach sand? ima try to see if i can check for boost leaks tomorrow. also both o2 sensors are bad and MAP sensor as well. would this play any part in this problem?
