I have had 2 Auto AWD dsms. I had a 92 tsi, and I now have a 99 GSX.

I was able to brake torque fine on the TSI, but I cannot get above 2500-3000 rpms on the Eclipse.

Both of these cars, the acceleration have been pretty awful until hitting boost. The GSX runs pretty perfect. I do have a few boost leaks, but nothing major.

My question is, is there anything besides boost leaks that cause slow acceleration, and not being able to brake torque properly?

Thanks

Well seeing as you know you have boost leaks fix them dude. Of course it will affect acceleration your asking the turbo to push more air and having it go right into the atmosphere and not in the intake. As far as brake torquing I don't think there is any proper way to do it bro, its seat time and driver skill. Any boost leak is a leak and shouldn't be looked over or not considered. Do you have that hks bov recirculated or vented? Anything to tune with? Does your turbo have shaft play?

Yes and the answer is very simple..The automatic ecu..It retards timing while trying too brake boost, so then it launches like your grandma.

Manual ecu, with 450s and the manual fpr would be my suggestion.

Brake boosting, as in holding in the brake, and accelerating to launch with an automatic car. I could launch my old TSI at around 5k rpms with no issues. My hks is just on my intake, and I capped off the piping on my cold air. I spool fine, and no shaft play. Obviously need to take care of the boost leaks, but that takes time, which is hard to find. I am saying small, as in I hold air and it slowly releases.

The auto ECU in general is a very slow accel?

Hold Brake, press accelerator, let off to accelerator to get some vaccum to the brakes, HARD on the brake, add accelerator until brakes no longer hold, release brakes. Always works for me. Im sure if my brakes were up to shape it would hold all the power, but I just havent had the time to replace calipers lately.

Please read posts man LOL :).

Thank you Bud92gsx, You led me in the right direction. Auto ECU's will not allow you to brake boost over 3k rpms, Unless you are running DSM link or something similar. I was not aware of this. I will be swapping to a Manual ECU, seeing that it is a good upgrade for a auto gsx.

Haha you'de be surprised bro a lot of dumb asses out there haha! And I meant seat time and driver skill like in a drag race application, does take some practice. It's not like you just jump in the car and can launch 1.5 60's ya know what I mean!

Im not on the auto ecu anymore and my brakes only hold till 23-2400 rpms.

I did the same swap, but i went with the 450s and auto fpr with a tune..But thats a tad extreme.Just the ecu swap alone should allow you to brake boost better.
