So for anyone who hasn't seen my other post I received a 92 eagle talon TSi AWD that had been sitting for about 5 years. I changed out the fuel pump because it was dead, drained the fuel tank, changed the oil, filled the tranny fluid because it was way low, and filled the coolant tank. It is not currently registered and doesn't have insurance so I haven't been able to drive it very far. But my problem is that when I am starting from a stop and I push the gas pedal down all the way it seems to have very poor acceleration from 0 - 20mph. I mean so slow that my 91 toyota tercel with a 90hp engine could beat it to 20mph easy. I was wondering if this is normal or so I have another problem that needs to be fixed? I am going to pick up some new spark plugs today and put them in. Any feedback will be greatly appreciated as I am very new to working on cars.

try a BLT and compression test and come back with the results. it could be a lot of things.

Have you done a boost leak test? And does it bog down when you push the pedal or is it just a slow acceleration?

I did a search and found out how to do a boost leak test and a compression test. I will not be able to do these for a while as I am on a short budget and I still have to get new tabs for the car. But once I do I will be able to do a boost leak test and a compression test. Is it possible that the spark plugs could be causing this. Also for anyone else that has a 1g talon about how long does it take to go from 0 - 20mph?

if the engine is strong, not long. LOL. revs should climb smoothly and quickly.
