i have a 97 Talon Tsi and i have so far upgraded the fuel pump, bov, after market boost gauge and also i have put in a boost controller. After i put in the fuel pump which is 255LPH i increased the boost two days later to 18psi. It was running fine for 2 months then on my way home from work my oil pressure gauge dropped from normal to nothing and i check the oil level and it reads fine, but now when i boost it in 4th or 5th gear it doesnt want to move and it wont go over 5psi. i have checked the oil feed line and thats fine. any advise would be great thanks.

uhm. uh. Is that BOV recirculated? and 18psi is a bit much for not having a safc or anything. Did your oil light come on too, or just the gauge dropped?

The oil light never came on, I just happened to see it go from normal to nothing.

So ever since you lost all oil pressure, the car doesn't boost right anymore?

correct, it feels very slow and it doesnt want to boost in 4th or 5th gear.

Yeah well, there's been thread after thread like this, and they all end the same way.

Lesson to be learned: On any car, doesn't matter what it is. When you lose all oil pressure, shut the damn engine off.

correct i did and i checked the oil and the oil level was fine. When looking at it to see if i could see oil any where like a leak or a puddle nothing the motor was free from oil and there was nothing on the road. After looking turned the car back on and the pressure for the oil was fine but when i boost thats when i can tell my car is slower.

You need to determine if you actually lost pressure of if your gauge just failed. You know when you have no pressure if you try to start the car or start the car and its making a bunch of noise. You need to check your oil pump and turbo, for everything.

Sounds like your short some mods to be running that much boost. Might want to thank about a wideband, fpr and a safc at the least

ok i will look into that. But any advise besides to turn down the boost or what could be wrong with it?

not making any noise what so ever. thats why im clueless no nock no nothing. i checked for shaft play and there is none but have not ripped out the turbo to take a closer look but i will do that on monday when im off.

This might sound stupid but did you check for any boost leaks after this happened. Also do u mean you put a fmic on your car or did you get a adapter for your stock piping?

I havnt checked for any boost leaks yet, and no i havnt put a fmic nor did i get an adapter for the piping. all i did was put in a 255lph fuel pump and boost gauge and controller and now thinking about it a boost leak never crossed my mind. sounds dumb on my end but i since the oil pressure gauge went to nothing and no leaks i thought i messed up my turbo but i will check to see if i have any boost leaks.

Is the turbo full of trash?

shouldn't be i changed the filter and made sure the piping to the turbo from the air filter was clean before i got the car.

well on the setup you have max boost is 15psi or you risk damaging the motor and a/f ratios being off. sounds like a boost leak to me and over time boosting at 18psi if you havent changed the seals in the motor where boost leaks can occur the pressure will cause the seals to break. you should try to do a boost leak test every few weeks just to make sure everything is allset. now when you try to boost in 1st and 2nd gear what does it boost up to?

your saying you cant pass 5 psi in 4th and 5th gear also if black smoke is coming out the exhaust when your boosting its most likely a boost leak cause your car is burning rich. also as mentioned before cause i didnt see the answer maybe i missed it is the BOV recirculated?

Thank you I didn't have to write it.

in the 1st 2nd and 3rd gears i can boost up to 18psi and the bov is not recirculated but some odd reason my car doest act up like want to shut off cause i have the atmosphere dumb going on.
