I was just wondering what a normal spool up time for a stock 1g with a 14b turbo set at 16 psi would be? Assuming the car was running in brand new condition.

BTW, the stock boost gauge is not as inaccurate as people say it is..in fact, it reads almost identical to my autometer gauge

your stock boost gauge doesn't even read 16psi ...

don't rely on it at all, it's completely useless.

Stock boost gauge is a waste of time. You could have some horrible spike to 20psi and not know it, because your stock boost gauge is only hitting 10.

My friends stock boost gauge only hit 10psi when he was running 22 daily. Stock boost gauges are not safe or reliable.

I have no problem getting 20psi by 3500 on my 14B.

You are getting 20 psi on a 14b? you are probaly spiking 20 psi, and it doesn't really matter if you are getting 20 psi on the 14b because that is way out of it's effiency range. You are probaly making the car actually slower set that high.

i'm not relying on it at all..i'm just saying what i saw. Besides, how do you know it's completely useless? Do you have some actual evidence of this, or is this just what everyone else is telling you and you repeat it back? From what i see, even at 1 psi on the autometer, it'll read exactly the same on the stock gauge, and they rise and lag at the same time, when my autometer hits 14, my stock one hits 14 at the EXACT SAME TIME. I will admit it it's only unreliable when the car is cold, after it warms up though, it's 100% accurate as my autometer. Any one else experience this? maybe, i'll get a passenger to record this.

Why I ran 22psi for a long time on my 14b...

my old 94 was running solid and never spiked past what my 10$ mbc of ebay was set at...

14b's are usually maxing their flow around 17-18psi but my car was alot faster when i tuned for 22psi then it was tuned to 17-18 psi...

if you read about stock boost guage it will tell you how it works, it's not a true measure of boost I would not trust it at all. read up on it and you will see what I mean!!

i know how the stock boost gauge works and i know where it gets it's readings from. I'm just comparing my autometer and my stock and it's almost identical. I myself wouldn't recommend trusting it at all as it has been very inaccurate before, but i'm just pointing out my experience. Has anyone else noticed any accuracy? I'm gonna record a video tomorrow to show you guys.

i don't mean to thread jack or nothing and i figured since someone already asked something similar i would ask in here. my 14b doesn't reach 13 psi nowhere near 3500 rpm. what could be causing this to happen?

In what gear is the 14b reaching 13 psi at 3500?
A boost leak and or poor compression can cause the slow spool!

Fyi my ported 14b hits 17psi by 2700rpms

My 14b on my 2g hits that also but i have a front mount and some other goodies...

I would say if your not full boost by 35ish somethings wrong..

I "had" a boost leak and it seemed when i hit the gas i would be almost spooled of course i could hear the turbo and it sounded like i had a huge turbo.. ROFL

yeah i can hear my turbo spool quite loudly like my friends gtr12 I think it's called? what was leaking in yours to make it sound like that, I'm currently pulling my car inside my garage cause one wheel is coming loose so i might as well start poking around.

I took mine completely apart and silicone lubed everything and in 3rd or 4th gear i could hit 21psi by 2500 easy.

another thing to do is just disconnect all the lines on the turbo and lube everything up that way. It will clean out all that burnt oil and stuff. I would use a can of Castle Silicone Spray. Best lubricator i know of.

I run an evoIII 16G at stock boost and I dont see it until like 4500 RPM's hahahahahah... I have issues to deal with obviously
