noise coming from the head

wel i was coming from the store, went to 1st and 2st gear and when i went to third i felt like i lost power. got home and heard a really bad ticking noise comming from the head.i opened the hood and checked everything, it all looks good tuned the car on and it threw me a code for the CAS sensor .i wondered what that had to do with the noise it's making please help me

Before anything, get a (Stethoscope) and begin to give a (good hear) over it. Pull off the valve cover and get a good look over it and start from there. You can also do a Compression Test as well. Could be a (lifter).

as 96 eclipse stated I would get a stethoscope or a long piece of medal (screwdriver held to the ear works as well) to check around the head.

i did a compression test and it is 170 across the board and it sounds like somebody is hitting the valve cover with a hammer and the noise increases when RPMs go up. not louder but faster sounding like purring

well i found the problem. my balance shaft belt broke . i have already replaced it and put the car back in time and now it purrs like a kitten, no bad noises or anything. THANKS to all of yalls help
