Just had a new transmission and transfer case installed a while ago (thank you VTECthis for that beast TRE stage 2 :hellyeah:), and the tranny shifts perfect and all. I also get a noise when rolling in neutral and turning like a ticking/clicking/tumbling sound from the right cv axle area that matches like the speed of the car (slower intervals when car moves slower between the clicks etc).

What could this be, and i also got a different transfer case to match the 95-96 tranny

I had a mechanic check out all the CV axles and the boot but he says they're fine>?>!?!?!
HELP?:sosad::confused::confused::barf:

Anyone? I think i figured out that the screeching is from my clutch but what about the ticking that isn't a cv axle or ripped boot issue?

Did this start after installing the new transmission and transfer case? If so, think of what you swithed out and what you touched vs. What was not touched from before. Is the sound the same when coasting in neutral as it is when turning? Does it make the same sound turning left vs. Right? Try and narrow down what induces the sound and we can narrow down the suspects accordingly. I could throw ideas out of what might be making sounds but that's not very helpful.

Check the dust covers for the rotor on the questionable side and make sure they arn't touching anything, your break pad clips could also be messed up and touching the rotor.

I agree check the dust cover if it gets bent even slightly it will scrape the rotor. Also check the cv axle if someone before put a new boot on it they could have not put enough grease or could have not cleaned it and could have debris still in it.

I just replaced my pass side shaft. I guess when i reinstalled it i must have cocked the beraing assembly in the cup slightly. Well it go worse and worse til the other day i was pull out of my driveway and POP, then all i hear is grinding. Since i have a stock tranny if one side breaks, car wont move. Anyway, i replaced it, the clicking is gone and its much smoother now. My money is on the outer cv joint, bet thats your problem. GL
