No Starter plate = Cooler flywheel?

The starter plate im talking about is the one between the tranny and motor. It has a hole for the starter.

Well I need to get one for my FWD Tranny/Turbo motor to be safe.

But...

From what I hear without one will keep your flywheel cooler or do I really need to use one?

Well that depends, do you want to take the risk of having debris get in there when you're spinning that thing at 6-7k rpms and having that debris go flying around inside the bell housing or even flying THROUGH the bell housing?

As you can probably guess, I'd say leave it on. Not worth taking those kinds of chances for a slightly cooler flywheel (with a good clutch that shouldn't matter anyway.)

Stop listening to those people. Flywheel "overheating" isn't a problem. Mud, water, snow and crap on the flywheel/pressure plate can be.

Hey Guys.... I got my rebuilt motor and tranny all assembled and bolted in place tonight and realized i left that starter plate off between the motor and the transmission.... Will my car be fine 2 run without it? also I will be putting the lower one on as that covers the bottom side from debris.. Let me know guys. Thanks, Larry

All you guys leaving off the starter plates need to watch the bolts that bolt your tranny to the motor cause with out a starter plate it is easy for the bolts to vibrate loose
