I know this is a bit of a noob question but its driving me nuts and I need to get this car running to get it down the road.

Im having a no start issue. When I turn the key forward it will not click or do anything. I think I hear a relay clicking but that is it. I checked the alt and main fuses and they both look fine. I have not had a lot of time to mess with it but I just wanted to get some quick opinions. I changed the HG on it and timing belt. I drove it to town and back. I changed the pos battery teminal and did some work on the interior.I put the dash back together because the prev owner changed heater cores and didnt assemble the dash properly. Now It wont start at all. I tried jumping the solinoid with the key on and it just turned over. Still no start.

So the engine turns over using the starter?

You have a dash that was taken apart by someone else, that you had to put back together? Ouch.

This could be so many things. Well, start with cel's and safety switches (as in clutch pedal or neutral safefy switch depending on 5sp or auto). Are you sure your battery cable isn't loose somewhere?

get a volt meter and start testing. with out more info you wont get alot of help. like mark said there could be many issues going on since the dash was out. i would start with your battery and all of your sensor connectors to make sure everything is pluged in all the way. do you hear the fuel pump turn on? any cel codes or dash lights coming on or not coming on? headlights have full brightness? ect...

The batter cable would be the obvious choice for sure but I cant see anything wrong with it. I have 3 wires on the pos term and then the one for the ground. I even made a new ground with some 4 gauge cable to rule out a grounding issue. I have not had much time to probe around with a volt meter and mine kinda sucks, advance pos. The dash was not completely out but it was just sitting in there not bolted down so I went through and reattached everything. I will check the neutral saftey. I do not hear the fuel pump kick on. Its just annoying because I had it running and drove it 10 miles and i fixed a few things and it just stopped. I mean I usually check the obvious stuff when something like this happens.

The engine does not turn over using the key but if I jump the solinoid to the battery it will turn over. I had no problem before. Im thinking its something in the ignition because the fuel pump and starter wont work when I turn the key.

I did have a CEl before it decided to not start. It was just for the EGR. I do not have any CELS on the dash now which is throwing me off.

Maybe they never disconnected the battery when they took the dash apart.Could of blown a fuse.Did you check all the fuses under the hood?also def check clutch switch.sometimes I have to hold my key and press the clutch a couple times to get it to turn over. And dont over look the starter wires, check them also.

I had the same problem with my car I tried everything until I found out it was my camshaft position sensor. Maybe you should try and look into that.
No. Your engine would still turn over but not start with a bad cam sensor.

OP, without the fuel priming you need to start there. Why is it not priming? I don't suspect relay because of the problems you are having, but you can certainly check it out. When you turn the key on, do you see any dash warning/indicator lights? When you turn your key to turn the engine over, do your lights change?
