I've got a 1995 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS 420a 5 speed. Car was getting good fuel and spark but would never start. Come to find out the pin on the cam on the intake side was broke and cam gear was free spinning.

Pulled motor, replaced cams, put it back in, plugged everything back up and now no fire to the coils or crank sensor. Fuel pump kicks in about it. I've checked fuses plugs wires etc. I've changed CAS sensor and the computer was changed by previous owner.

Have you checked the ASD relay?

Where did you get the new cam sensor from? I have seen alot of them from autozone that didn't work right out of the box.

The ASD relay is on the fire wall on driver side?. And it was in a parts box I had I've got 3 30gallon totes full of wiring sensors plugs gaskets etc very handy. Could it be the ECU?. I wouldn't think it would be cause it was fine last week I seem to think it's a wire issue or something cause when I first got the car I tested both cas sensors I have and they both worked. I just can't figure it out it worked fine up till now after I pulled motor and replaced cams etc.

did you swap the magnet for the cam sensor onto the new cam?

if your coil pack and cam sensor plugs have been changed to the newer style (flat pin) its possible to get the cam and coil plugs swapped.
With the newer sensor the cam, crank, coil, vss all have the same plug.

on the ASD relay, it may be opposite of the picture since the fuel pump relay is the same. the gray plug(harness side) is the ASD and the one with a black plug goes to the fuel pump

Thanks man. I fixed it this morning. I got to looking and plugged a plug in and it fired right up.

I drove it down the road, engine seems good, ran good but I checked engine oil and it was milky kinda like chocolate milk but more of a white color!.

New head, valves, block was hot tanked and check, MLS head gasket. The radiator is full of water. I drove it like 15mins still radiator full. It's not got water in the oil. Beats me it don't miss or nothing.

Other thing is I think to believe a lifter tick it's all new top end besides cams I bought used cams.

i would change your oil right away if it looks like that . lifter tick may be from diluted/contaminated oil

Well ended up spinning rod bearings the other day.

I've got the head off and motor ready to pull out. I'll be looking to buy a set of wisco je pistons .20over in a few weeks if any body on here has some they want to sale. I really don't want to spend $600 for a set of pistons. Looking at eagle rods for $300 this is a slow build as I've not got much cash to work with as of now!
