Hey everyone, i just finished going through a long process of patching a small hole in my gas tank, painting it, and re-plumbing the fuel pump and tank with all new lines. I put everything back together the way it came out, and i am not getting any power to the fuel pump. I will mention that the pump is out of the tank, and i am testing to see if it turns on. There is no power going to the connector that plugs into the pump. What should i be looking for, and what could i do? im at a real stopping point, because i dont know what to do. Everything seems in order, and nothings out of the ordinary. the pump just doesnt turn on. I have looked in the wiring diagrams, and have found that its 13c (if i recall correctly) for the fuel pump in the MPI relay console. Where is this console located, and how can i test this? I have performed the test from the battery to the check terminal, and nothing out back on the connector. There is even no power when the car is cranking. Is there something i'm missing??? Thanks again.

Where in the fuse box? i looked in mine, and it just has the normal array of different fuses and fusible links. None were labeled fuel pump, or MPI. what should i be looking for?

I was looking at a turbo laser the other day and the mpi was on the drivers in the engine bay right at the firewall its big and has a black rubber casing around not in the fuse box mine has it under the radio check there if all else fails. non turbo's have it on the passenger side firewall in the engine bay.

The MPI relay is under the hood in the fuse box.
Not on a 1G and I don't think so for mitsu powered 2G's either. The MPI relay is the gold unit bolted to the passenger side of the center console supports below the radio. Remove the passenger side carpet on the center console anf the MPI relay is just inside below the radio and to the rear of the car from the ECU

I don't know why I was thinking about the MPI fuse when I said of its location.
Not to rag on you but still incorrect for a 1G. The MPI fuse on a 1G is on the positive battery terminal not in a fuse box with the others and relays.

correct. I am not sure how to test it, other than that if you turn the key into the on mode with a fully charged battery, you will hear it click on, then after 15 seconds in the off position, you will hear it click again.

Have you checked your battery voltage?? Is it below 10-12 volts?.

Have you checked your grounds?

How specifically did you wire the fuel pump? Did you reuse the existing stock wires, or did you do a hardwire?

i have reused the stock wires. we bent a new piece of pipe going from the pump out, welded the pipe to the bracket (thing that screws to tank) and sealed it with magnum steel. we then re-glued the electrical connections and took the little tab off of the old pipe and re-attached it to the new piece. there are no leaks in the pipe. we put it all back together, and no power to the connector. i have a chilton manual in front of me, and i am going off of wiring diagram 8, which is the only one for the 2.0 Turbo. and it says from the MFI relay there is a black-green wire, which goes to another black-green, then a black-white, then pump, then black for ground. From the MFI Control Unit, its labeled as 13C, and it says the wire is either black-green or black-white, which then connects between the 2 black-green ones. im not much of an electrician, could anyone help decipher this?? I just wanna get my car running, and this problem is really irritating. any help or suggestions is greatly appreciated.

hey everyone, just an update. the car is now running. the problem was with the bolt for the hot lead and the connector for the pump where it goes through the plate that bolts to the tank. it was rusted and corroded, and caused a bad connection. so, that is now fixed, and thank you all for your help and knowledge. now, onto a different problem!

what is this bolt for the hot lead? i am experiencing a similar problem with no power to the fuel pump in my 92 talon tsi. maybe off the fusible link? my understanding was that he didn't touch anything in that area.
