Guess Lofty and Project have trouble reading . I said the viper was "responsible for." I didn't say that the viper is the most technologically advanced vehicle out there.

I don't think I read it wrong. But I probably implied some things that you didn't want to be implied.

The viper has brought forth more technology than any other car in production.

Someone never said "Responsible for" they used the term "Brought forth". Which can imply one of two things. 1) Chrysler made history by providing new technology in viper which everyone will remember was "brought forth" by the viper/SRT. Or that through the development process of the viper they discovered new technology which most people will never know was "brought forth" by the viper/SRT.

Until we see these new technologies. I still think the Vette has "brought forth" more technology for production vehicles than the Viper/SRT to date.

I have been a mopar person my entire life but I gotta say it would be a difficult choice between a viper and a zr-1...I definately would have to have the supercharged ls-9:thumb:

Hrmm, you mean there has been a misunderstanding?! I thought all great minds thought alike. LOL

i can't wait until someone with a honduh or equivalent gets their hands on these pictures.
i think its a good look since its tastefully done on a $85,000+ Viper but i think our days are numbered until the local ricer crowds pick up on this... :barf:

im sad to the Viper go! but not to many car manufacturers can ruin a good platform like mitsu did when they redesigned the eclipse in '00. i look forward to seeing what dodge comes up with...

I might be a little biased because I've wanted a viper since I was born. But with talking to my buddy Chrysler has definitely brought more technology than any other company(American of course.)
I know a number of Vette enthusiasts who would disagree with that statement. I haven't really done the research to dispute it, but aside from the Hemi, I can't say I remember a whole lot of ground-breaking technology coming out of the Chrysler camp over the years.

The Viper was an intriguing car when it came out, that's for sure. But most of the appeal was visual and because it had a V10 stuffed in it with crazy wide rear tires. I don't know that many ever saw it as a technological marvel. If anything, I'd say the top shelf Corvettes have led the way consistently in terms of technology. The Viper seemed more like a blip on the radar.

I can't take anything away from the Viper. It stands for a lot of things I enjoy about cars. I don't know that I'd own one, but I certainly can't talk bad about it, as it's an important part of the performance car legacy - even if it was designed as a roadster first, sports coupe second. Hopefully Chrysler is able to come up with something really good to replace it. With the C6 Z06 and ZR1 out there, they'll have to be on top of their game.

RIP to the Viper.

I have driven one. You make it sound like it's a special car. Now if I said I drove a Zonda R then everyone could doubt it. ;)

The Viper has brought forth more technology than any other car in production? I want to see a credible source to back up that statement, and name dropping doesn't count.

I'd rather get an Ultima GTR720

I assume that you're referring to the ugly red stripe down one side...steering wheel included. I am someone with a "Honduh" and also equivalent (a dsm) and I'm pretty sure I still think that half assed looking stripe is hideous and tacky...even for an 85k+ Viper. Not every Honda owner/driver is a ####IN ricer...and for christ sakes coming from a forum filled with 2g eclipses? Pot calling the kettle black if you ask me. :ohdamn:

yes i was referring to the red stripe that covers the steering wheel and the underside/mounting for the spoiler. i didn't say every honda owner/driver is a ricer, and this forum if for all DSM's (VR4, 1g, & 2g) not just 2gs. "pot calling a kettle black" is a good phrase but no, i am not making fun of rice while driving rice myself. i am making fun of rice while driving a 13yr old tuner car.

i wasn't making fun of honduhs or riceburners i was just simply stating that I believe that when they (car enthusiasts that are into body kits, lights, and bright colors) see this $85k viper theyre going to mimic the racing stripe because its different and thats all im trying to say. if you think that "half assed looking stripe is hideous and tacky" then i wasn't talking about you...

:dsm:

Fair enough...LOL I've been into Hondas since I could drive and I hate bodykits, lights, and bright colors but I have had the most bone stock Hondas considered "ricers" by others just because of the emblems. It's just rather annoying that to most people Honda=rice or vice versa when Honda is def not the only car people paint bright yellow with a body kit underglow, and z3 fenders like the 2gay eclipse I smoked on the highway last night. Much like if I was to say "wait until someone with a 2gay or riceburner gets a hold of these pics." It just infers that 2gay's and riceburners are the same or similar...even though the original definition of a rice burner is an Asian car...much like Mitsu, Nissan, Honda, etc. Also how is typing "honduh" as apposed to the real name Honda not making fun of the name/brand as a whole? I've got nothing wrong with 2gay Mitsu-retard owners(everyone is entitled to they're own girly interests) but around here a riced out 2gay is far more common of a site than riced Honduhs...or however you try to spell it.

To each their own opinion...but nothing makes me smile more than smoking all the dumbass Honda haters...in a Honda

:rocks: im so glad you posted, ill stop filling this thread full of nonsense and PM you my opinion. this way we keep this thread on topic AND you don't have to let the world know what you think of 2gay DSMs

:dsm:

and you shouldn't street race, its dangerous and most ricers do it.

:dsm:

Sounds good sir! No need to let the world know what you think of Honduhs either.

And I guess that'd explain why the only ones who ever want to race are 2gays huh?

I have driven a friends viper, its intense but honestly if i had 85+k to show how big my Di#$ is it wouldn't be by buying a viper.

That's the problem with guys like you. First, you do not have 85k to spend. Second, you think it's about having a "big Di#$" as you put it. When you have 85k to spend your outlook on things is a lot different. You surely don't think about buying a 92 Galant VR4 with 500hp to cruise around in.(not knocking the car guys, I personally love them) Just saying that your outlook on things change. So really until you know what it's like to go spend 85k on a vehicle all you can do is ass-u-me and we all know where that gets you.

chris,
You will see some of their findings on the new vehicles come out.

What the hell do the last 3 posts have to do with this thread? or Vipers in general? Come on guys.

absolutely nothing... thats why we redirected it to the PM system so we can continue to ponder what dodge/chrysler is going to come up with next instead of arguing about nonsense.

:dsm:

Drove a viper for a day.....hated it. Wouldn't hook for me, turned like a brick. And was just a big motor with a nice body.

Also drove a ZO6 for a day. The car walks circles around the viper. Plain and simple.

Honestly? I'm glad to see the viper go. It was in no way advanced. And 85k? It was never worth 85k. EVER. I'd much rather take that money and go buy something with things that are driver friendly. When my friends and I got to track days, we see an abundance of 4 cars....Porsche, Corvette, Evo strangely, and S2000's. I hardly EVER see a viper.

Corvette and gm alone have brought more to the table then chrysler. Hell IMO ford did as well, and that's saying something. The Ford Focus was the first Hatchback to utilize independent rear. And the SVT Focus was a MILESTONE. Never once have i seen a viper come out offering SOOOOO much more then the last model....

I lived in Michagain for 13 years of my life. And i have ALOT of family with ALOT of contacts in the big three.

And as sure as i am typing this on here, chrysler just loves to bomb stuff. Look at the SRT-4 neon. You got a Turbo PT cruiser in a neon's body.

I think my 95 talon has more R&D then a damn viper.

I haven't ever liked them. And never will I until they can bring something truly unique to the table. All of the big three brought back a historic muscle car, Ford redesigned the mustang introduced a new motor and really stepped up the game IMO, Chevy brought back the camaro after being dead for so long and that car is an emblem shining one at that of R&D. And Little ole chrysler brought back the challenger. Which was a TURD and still got more lime light then the viper. That's quite sad.

So Long viper. Good bye. Hopefully they can bring something out to compete with their competition. Because right now.......the future of performance based chrysler vehicles seems grim.

Chrysler just cut the electric car program as another thread pointed out. They cut the Viper. Sorry to break it but I don't think there is a chance in hell that another gas-guzzler will be produced. I can see the news channels light up now if Dodge announced they would use tax dollars to build a new 10mpg sports car.
