no low end power

So, I am doing a leak test tomorrow, but I don't think that would be the issue becuase my problem starts before the turbo starts making boost. Is it the 4g63 that has like, no power before 3k rpms or am I just imagining this? Someone tell me something is wrong with my engine.
90 4g64 GSX, all stock.

Also, one more question. Are turbos supposed to spool when they aren't under load? I.e. when I am in nuetral and rev the engine and hold it at 3-4k should the turbo be spooling?

and figure out why the hell the guy who owned it wired the fans to run all the time.

That could eventually burn out the fan or even melt the wires since they weren't really designed to be on at all times.

Don't go by the stock 'boost' gauge. It's a 'liar' gauge since it's not run by a MAP sensor or anything, the ECU just tells it where to put the needle at. By the size and digits, it's not like it could really be accurate even if it was going off a more accurate source like a MAP.

So. I bought a boost gauge today. :dance: My friend sold it to me. Autometer Boost gauge and Autometer Oil pressure gauge, both for 40 bucks, with everything they need.

So, yeah, that's my update for the day.

Alright, so I read through the thread about where to tap into for a boost gauge but it still seems to elude me. Can someone do me a favor and take a picture of where they T'd into for their boost gauge. 4g63

Use the vacuum hose that goes from the front center of the intake manifold and runs to the solenoids on the firewall, take a closer picture of that area if you still can't figure it out and I'll circle it for you.

Ok. Few questions. First, what the hell is this thing.

second, When I removed my AC 2 days ago there was this harness that is left just chillin. What should I do with it?

And third, What are these wires going to? They were like this when I bought the car, just kind of wrapped around the mounting points on the clip. So, what part should I look for so that I can have that harness again to actually plug it in instead of just having them wrapped up in there?

Also, the spark plug cover on my vavle cover is all warped and crappy, so I removed it. Issues? It's just for aesthetics right?

Then there is also a small amount of oil pooling in my spark plug area on the valve cover so that needs to be addressed.
And I have a small coolant leak somewhere.
Still haven't got around to a boost leak test, I gave up on the DIY tester and am just gonna order one for the 12 bucks or whatever it is.

Ok, got vacuum caps (they were too big, going back tomorrow).

Also, got the boost gauge hooked up but it looks like I am only hitting 7psi max then it falls flat on its face.
