ok im running a 1g laser.. only with the down pipe cut b4 the cat.it pulls alot harder but feels like its fuel cutting around 5-6k b4 you get to redline and falls flat on its face and im at stock boost with no upgrades but hard pipe instead of rubber..so could it be backpressure.which most people tell me that your turbo counts for the back pressure needed.and what problems will i run into if i keep runnin it with no exhaust just str8 downpipe sorry about my typing kinda in a rush.......need help:confused:

I don't know why you guys are ripping a new one to the guy with post #2. He's right, and he NEVER said back pressure is good, it's that the free-flowing exhaust is causing more airflow.

Maybe I misunderstand him but in the first sentence he states that without back pressure your turbo will spin to freely.

You keep overboosting on a stock ancient 1g fuel pump and your going to get a fun little surprise.

well i talked to a couple of dsm guys down here and they told me that i should be running around 10-12 psi stock it holds it fine now that i got new plugs...i dont think i have boost leak anywere because the turbo was new condition only had bout 1k on it when i got it..at 8 psi is wehn i had most of my problems but that was because i had a blown turbo seal nd a smoking turbo soon as i put a new 14b on it then it started boosting faster and up to 12 consistently without creep or cut.so im keepin it at 12 i hear thats safe boost for yur fuel pump injectors and dailyy driving

oh... well i just drove it today and it ran fine boosted up and finaly hit redline with out a creep or fuel cut..so it was them denso spark plugs

this is the reason the dsm gets a bad name. people just buy them, hack the shit out of them, and kaboom. that kind of intellegence makes me :barf:. why would you even want an open downpipe. it sounds like shit. i had to drive for a day like that beacuase some assholes stole my megan dp.

well when your exhaust is rusted to hell and it leaks it sounds better to drive with no exaust than to have a realy bad exhaust leak that sounds worse

I might just run mine open after the downpipe. The car isn't really going to be driven on the street much if any though.

yea thas easy to say but i gotta get to work so im forced to drive it doesnt sound to bad actually i know alot of ppl wont race me though when they here the downspool of the turbo they usually think i got some big ol turbo on it ....LOL ok how much u want for it???

quick question.... i found a 1992 eagle talon 6bolt block and cylinder head for cheap at a local junk yard... im going to rebuild this motor and swap out my 7bolt when it finally dies on me (end nearing soon) how much does it cost at a machine shop to have the block decked surfaced hone all the goodies and the cylinder head work done? an approx would be great... trying to figure out how much i should budget

ill let the exhaust go for 200 shipped. it sounds great!!! aznspice 27, every shop differs on prices. i hone the block myself, but it only cost me like 100 bucks to have the head and block resurfaced. and about an extra 350 for port n polish, and then about another 150 for my 3 angle valve job. the places that it gets super pricey is having the shop bore it, extrude hone, assembling, and of course if you have the shop just order the parts. but like i said, every shop rate differs. theres a bad ass place in greeley, colorado called greeley automotive machine. the guys name is bruce yaki.
