No acceleration, boggy slow...

I have a 1996 talon tsi that has been doing this odd thing on startup where itll run fine one time, but then the next itll idle really low, and have extremely sluggish acceration even after boost spools. itll also back fire and pop somtimes during this. changed the plugs and wires but didnt help.. any ideas guys?

I'm gonna say it before everyone yells at you haha, did you do a BLT?? (Boost leak test)

I would start there, if its not that then try a compression test and also look for a vacuum leak. Good starting point!!

I agree. While your at it check all your sensors. Is your check engine light on?

Boost leek test Is a good start, there are many good write ups on how to make one, all you really need is a sewer pipe cupler from homedepo and a PVC cap and a tire valve stem and test to 20psi. Also u will need to use a air compressor. Do you have any mods?

Alright so in order, no i have not yet done a BLT, its not a vac leak because the boost gauge i have hasnt moved from -20 as per norm, yes i have a CeL light on, got it read and its for "system purge control unit valve", "wastegate solenoid", and manifold differential pressure sensor circuit". Ive also discovered that 3 of my bolts connecting the header to the head are stripped and are causing an exhaust leak. Also, was told to look into fuel filter and ATS from my bud who owned this cars 2 owners ago.

Lol ^^^well at least you know what your looking for. Oh and just cause your vacuum at Idle Is normal doesnt mean you dont have one or a few. Ive had them seal at vacuum and leak under boost. Hence the sayIng BOOST LEAK. Keep the maintenance up bro and you'll go further. I learned the hard way :/ Good luck
