NLTS, should I try it?

I have been wondering about the NLTS feature I have on dsmlink sense I upgraded to a bigger laggier turbo. I have a sc6152 with a 4" SP cover and .63 a/r exhaust housing. I do not want to fall out of boost a lot when I shift from 1st to 2nd gear. I want to use the NLTS feature but worry about my stock tranny. I have heard, and it makes sense, that if you set your NLTS at the rpm that you should fall into in the next gear, then there is actually less wear on the tranny. What do you guys think? Is it worth trying? Should I use it but just make sure to get it into the next gear when I upshift by shifting a bit slower?
thanks for the help

It's only advisable if you have a really good transmission. Or a Twin disk setup that fully disengages. Other than that most single disk clutch setups have a slight drag on the trans which may lead you into a gear grind situation if you use NLTS or flat shift.

You can shift as slow as you want with NLTS. Shift slow enough so the trans doesn't grind. The NLTS feature will hold the boost up so there's much less lag when you engage the clutch.

I remember when I first got NLTS I would drive around and practice using it. I'd floor the throttle, push the clutch in hold it like that for a few seconds while moving the shifter to different gears. It was just as easy on the trans as a regular shift. If you try to rush the shift it will be harder on the trans, and an old trans may not like it, so shift slow. The boost will still be there when it's time to engage the clutch, no lag.

Yeah the few times i got it to work with my old trans +dsmlink the car felt sooooo much better after the shift, way better than when i usually bang the gears at the track. I still havent figured it out yet with my new setup though... ever since i welded my pedal assembly i cant get nlts to work... wish i could though, im going to have to look into it because it helps so much.

Like dave said, it'll hold the rpms up and keep the boost up where you want it for as long as you want so it defeats the purpose of having to shift really fast.

I can't really get mine right... Link recognizes the ClutchSW 0 and 1, which means it's wired up right... i set it to 5000 i think, or lowest possible, slam on the gas and when it comes time to shift clutch in, and RPMs rise.
Any ideas? I'm pretty sure I got 91% throttle, or so the TPS reads.

I'm curious which feature is it to use NLTS? All i see is the antilag feature and the studderbox one.

My all stock 130k + transmission shifts better with NLTS then without. Shifts smooth and drops right in.

What rpm do you shift at? And where do you set the NLTS? I only ask because I want to know were to have the NLTS activated.
Thanks for the help

Wouldn't this be murder on your head, or does it bounce off a specified RPM setting?

I say it would be bad considering it cuts fuel, correct?, leaning out the car? I cant imagine it is great for the engine... But I'd have to agree that it would make shifting smoother to a point.

BUT, there's no load (not much anyway) on the engine while it's doing it, so it's not so bad. Also, it cuts out enough fuel to hinder proper combustion, not just make it run lean, so it's not like it's uncontrolled detonation. That's why these questions are better discussed on the product's board, it's all there.

( Jumping in a old thread)

My nlts is set at 6k and it feels better banging into the next gear full boost, and yes the tranny actually shifts better and smoother with nlts. It causes my car to belch huge blasts of fire under neathe it were my electric exhaust cut out dump is ( pretty much open dp when the cutout valve is open). Well at least this is what ive heard from more than two ppl who saw me use nlts at night on a hard pull...
