Hello everyone,
I'm planning on picking up a dsmlink,1000cc injectors,a meth kit, and a wet nitrous kit. I plan on trying to run a 75 shot on pumpgas with the meth. Has anyone tryed this before? How hard is it to tune. The meth will turn on at 14 pounds with a m 12 nozzle. Then i'll retard the timing like 8 degrees to play it safe when i spray it. How's this sound?

Sounds pretty safe to me. I haven't run pure meth before, but from what i've heard on it's ability to control knock and keep things cool in the intake tract i'd say you wouldn't even have to retard 8* ( but you could start there and slowly advance as you log what hapens and prove it safe) I've only used simple alky injection in the past.

I ran pump gas through both my N2o setups ( 125 shot on my stang and a 30 shot for spool on my mitsubishi) and i only retarded the base timing on the stang 4* and everythig was fine. I ran the stang on the 125 shot up to 155 thousand miles and never had an issue ( untill i turbo'd it, then it went POP! )

The 30 shot for spool on the mitsubishi was on for such a short time i saw no need for pulling timing.

The rule of thumb on nitrous and timing retard is 2* for every 50hp that you add with the bottle. And as long as you're adding the right amount of fuel with your nitrous there's no reason you shouldn't be able to run it alone without the meth injection. When the nitrous comes out of the bottle and then out the nozzle, and changes from a liquid to a gas, it is at about 125 degrees below zero, so that should be enough cooling to save your meth for running high boost when the nitrous isn't on. Nitrous actually isn't even flammable unitll it gets into the combustion chamber where it's heated to about 575 degrees. This is where it releases it's oxygen molocules that are what actually burns, the nitrogen is just a "super coolant" and basically a "carrier" for the oxygen so that you aren't toting a huge bomb around in your trunk.

Best of luck on your NAWZ LOL just kidding, had to call it that like all the riders do

But seriously, good luck with your setup, start jetting on the small side and work your way up. Let us know how she does!

EDIT: I shoudl mention from my experience, the jetting for a 75 shot on an NA car will provide more than that on a turbo car because of the cooling effects that it produces on the extra heated intake charge. I'm not saying that it's not safe to do, i'm just saying that you could probably jet it for 50 and get near 70 out of it. At least this is what i've seen using NOS's jetting recomendations and seeing the results on a dyno.

I would personally do it. Just remember to tune in steps and make sure you have all other suporting mods. I would start with a 50 shot though, get that tuned with the meth and then go from there.

There are many people that run both methanol and nitrous. There are even some out there that run methanol on the wet side of a nitrous kit.

THAT sounds like an interesting read for a boring afternoon. I'd like to hear more about that.:thumb:

I second that LOL its raining so i can go to the beach :( so pour out that info for meh. Im planning on running Meth+nos also on my ride but like everyone else says u gotta do it in stages your heads in the right place. Safety first i always say. Good luck keep us posted.

That's what i'm planning on doing. I have a fuel cell for my main fueling system, and am going to have a second cell with most likely xylene (117 octane) to fuel the Nitrous. Keeps things nice and safe, and i'm hoping i wont' need two different tunes.

Nitrous and water/meth injection were made for each other.

This is my setup and it has worked flawlessly.

75 shot wet single fogger nitrous system.
Devils Own Progressive water injection system.
Pocket logger to log timing.
FP Sleeper 16g turbo running a stock SMIC and piping.

The nitrous nozzle is in the stock 1g intake elbow.
The water/meth injection nozzle is about 12" from the T/B.
Running 6* total retard on the timing, this is done by the CAS initial timing pulled.

I control the activation of the nitrous system off the the Devils Own Progressive controller.

I'm running a 3bar map that's used to run the Devils Own system. Its part of their package.

I can have the nitrous come in at any psi I want. This helps when the track isn't prep well and running on crap tires. When I ran my 11.5@119mph it would activate at 10psi. I could have ran a 11.3x if I didn't have tires that are 8 years old or the track would of been prep better.

I'm running a 50/50 mix of water and denatured alcohol on pump premium.

Anyway this is a great way to have a consistent 11 second car with very little money into it.
