Actually, I was not 100% accurate about the burn rate. Burn rate stays constant the entire time, no matter which timing or AFR you go with. For some reason I was relating the burn rate to the amount of time it takes to burn off all the fuel.dsm-onster said:Awesome, awesome, awesome! As for flame fronts, your fastest fronts are from 11.7:1 to 13:1 AFR. Richening things up, like on pump gas to avoid knock, works because you are slowing the flame front, so the peak cylinder pressures occur after a longer period of time, not necessarily at TDC. The AFR at the time of combustion determines the flame front speed. I have seemed to run across the information that the fastest flame front is around 12.5:1, which means thats where a lot of power is gonna be had, but I know that a lot of DSMs tune for quite a bit richer AFR than 12.5:1. I'm gonna have to talk to my AEM tuner to see what he says about that,
