Newbie question about isc and tps

I have a 91 talon tsi with idle problems. With help from this forum and my haynes manual, I've determined that my isc and tps are both bad. From everything I've read and learned it seems to me that these things going bad is common in DSM's. Is this true ? Also what are some good websites where I could purchase a used isc. I've already checked every salvage yard in my area and they don't have one or they don't know what I'm even talking about. Ebay hasn't been very much help either. If you could help that would be great. Thanks in advance.

Maynerd, Have you got any junkyards near you? It is very easty to find both the ISC and TPS in a junked E/T/L either n/t or turbo. Also, if you don't have a concience, they fit in a coat pocket perfectly so there is "no charge" to obtain them, or if you feel guilty, pay for one of them.. Chances are the counter guy at the junkyard doesn't know what these parts are and may only charge you $5 to $10 for them. Plus now that you know how to test them you can take the multimeter with you and pick only good ones from the junk.

PS. I don't condone breaking the law only bending it to the breaking point.

PPS. If your not willing to try the "5 finger" discount idea, I can find working ISC's and TPS's for a nominal fee plus shipping.

OH yeah, and there is always Ebay. TPS's are pretty cheap there but ISC's are all around $70 lately. I still say the junkyard is your best bet. Even if it's a long drive to get there.

I was able to pick up a tps on ebay for $15 and it has a warrenty so that was good but I still havn't found an isc for under $70. None of the junk yards around here even have a DSM sitting around. I kind of find that hard to believe but i've called everyone of them, stopped in and asked, and even looked around in a couple of yards. This area sucks for finding dsm parts. If you own a ford, chevy, or honda you can go nuts picking up parts. Uhhhhh!!! I'm starting to get frustrated. If you could help me out that would be great but you don't have to. I'll keep searching

I finally found an isc pretty cheap. The Mad Dsm Dude hooked me up.

Save your old one, If you can find two good coils you can make a good isc with a little soldering.
