I just got my logger a couple days ago. Mods: 14b @ 16psi, free mods, 2.5" downpipe, hi-flow cat, 2.5 catback, K&N, stock fuel system. Anyway, I'm getting crazy knock. Take a look.

Now I know that amount of knock can't be healthy for the car. The timing looks low too. The scary thing is I"ve been running at the track for a year with this setup. I'm surprised the engine has lasted this long. Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated. And yes, I know I have to upgrade my fuel system.

I'm no tuning guru, but that looks really bad. I'd definitely back the boost down until you can add some fuel to the mix. What's weird is that the 14B shouldn't induce that much knock on a stock fuel system at 16 psi. It almost makes me wonder if your knock sensor is bad. Also, are you running too much base timing?

Let us know what you find eh?

Andy

That's what I thought too. From what I've seen and heard, a 16 psi on the 14b shouldn't be giving me those catastrophic knock numbers. I can only lower my boost down to 15 for some reason after taking out the BCS and adding the 2.5 downpipe.

I'll have to check my base timing. Would it affect the car that much? Thanks for the advice.

Your fpr might be on the way out the door as well. A quick test for that would be to get a set of vice grips and ping down a bit on the return line to artificially raise your fuel pressure. If the knock decreases, then it's your fpr.

You could also try rewiring your fuel pump to get a solid 14 volts to the pump.

I think, in hindsight, that checking the CAS might be a good idea as well. You could be experiencing phantom knock, but I'm not experienced enough to know the difference. I think the above posters have some great suggestions.

Keep us posted,

Andy

Thanks for the responses. The fuel filter is a good suggestion. I haven't even thought of that and haven't changed it since I first got the car.

Also, today I went to the track and was only seeing 10-15 counts of knock and the timing wasn't being pulled as much. It went up to about 17-18 in the upper rpms and stayed there. After a couple runs, the poor little sidemount was heatsoaked and I saw knock counts in the 20's again with timing dropping down to 13-14. Someone at the track mentioned rewiring the fuel pump, so I'll try that too once the 190 is on.

i would check everything in the fuel system, fuel filter, injectors, lines from the tank to the rail and etc..
