Hello,

I picked up a 92 Talon AWD Turbo. I am told it is the 6 Bolt w/ LSD Rear. The badge in the back of the bay is to worn to read.

Car has 57k Orig. Miles and the following upgrades by previous owner -

ported Evo III 16g turbo
ported 2g exhaust manifold and o2 housing
255lph walbro fuel pump
act 2600 clutch
front and rear strut tower bars
prothane frount motor mount insert
aluminum shifter base bushing
manual boost controller set at 15 psi

Aside from how to check / confirm my 6 bolt motor?, I have some general ?'s as I have never owned a turbo vehicle before.

I know to use synthetic oil but, what is the ideal weight for this set up?

I saw some cooler temp plugs, are these the way to go? what is the recomended plug for this setup?

What is the recomended plug wire?

I am not racing anyone but I do tend to open it up pretty regularly and I am daily driving it.

Your advice is much apreciated.

Thanks,
Escape2

On the inside of the door sometimes it will say if the car is equipped with an LSD. Also see if you can find the badge with all the info on it, it should say when it was made, I believe that if it was made before June of 92 it should have a 6/4 combo.

Most people on this forum swear by the NGKBR7ES plugs.

As for oil im sure that 10W-30 should be fine just depends on where your located and the climate.

Also welcome to the wonderful life of DSM's :thumb:

Okay many of us run 10w 30 full syn, royal purple is good, others tend to stay away from other brands because of their own reasons I have read many fourms about people not using mobile or other engine oil. NGK all the way man!!!!NGK plugs 7's or 8's I run the one step cooler plugs and love them(7) I'm talking about the serial number. I am running taylor wires 8mm which are great but so are other brands, but don't go down to your local autozone and pick up cheap wires there crap. Sounds like a great setup just make sure basic maintence is done I would do the usually checks that you can find throughout this website!!!! And remember it's AWD try not to just dump the clutch unless you have the money to do so instead ease of the clutch and get a good launch!!! take care man and have fun driving that boostin beast

It was manuf. MAR 92 so I guess it is a 6/4
Thanks for the advice, much apppreciated.

Adam -

I don't know who tinyturbine is but I bought it from a guy named Cory in Banks, Or.

Unfortunately for you, 6bolt switched over to 7bolt around mid 1992. Go here http://www.vfaq.com/mods/early-late-engine.html if you'd like to show you what to look for.

I'd use Mobile 1, 10W-30, you can use 5W-30 during the winter if you'd like, but it's sometimes recommended to use the 10W-30 even during the winter on higher-mileage vehicles because they need a little more viscosity.

Plugs, with your setup, one range colder than stock should be fine because you have the Evo3 16g with supporting mods.

Plug wire. NGK, Taylor, MSD, and Magnecor are all good. Some may argue that NGK's are the best because it is the factory wire the car came with and they work very well.

(Nothing had been posted prior to me starting this response, sorry if re-answer anyone's answer)

Spoolin -
