Well since I got this setup for REALLY CHEAP I figured why not give it a shot....

Manifold is a tubular with DSM head flange and Evo 8/9 Twin scroll turbo flange turned so the turbo woll face like a stock setup...

Turbo is a Evo 9 10.5 hotside with no shaft play and ready to go!
No pictures as I have been to lazy to upload them but we all know what it looks like

I always wanted to do this just never wanted to invest the money into it cause I never saw it being worth the price but this was cheap so why not! Got to say im pretty excited to try it out and see how it works....

FLAME ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:thumb:

Too bad that turbo flange wasn't flipped 180*....you could use an Evo X turbo and not be bothered with the fact that the turbo rotates the opposite direction:

Well I thought of that also but at the same time isnt the Evo IX turbo the best performing Evo turbo? They were made with a bigger Turbine housing and also the wheels are made of lighter material to counter the bigger turbine housing and still made spool up faster than the Evo 8 turbo... Just from reading anyway dont think ill notice the different.

Questions:

What can I do about the 02 housing? All evo 8/9 02 housing have that lip after the flange... Can I just cut that off or some ideas please??

Should I stay with the same copper gasket for the manifold or switch to another style gasket?(This is my 1st tubular manifold) Also would it be better to heat coat it or heat wrap it?

This is a very interesting thread. I wonder why more people do not go this route. Justin, what is the route you recommend for someone interested in using a stock EVO X turbo?

You wouldn't want to use the Evo X turbo in it's stock form- it's actually less-potent than an Evo III 16G. However, throw a 20G compressor wheel and cover on that bi*** and you'll have a 12cm twin-scroll TD05H 20G, offering all of the airflow potential of a TD06H turbine in a 7cm housing but spooling like an Evo III 16G instead of seeing full boost at 4200.

Basically you'd need to follow the steps outlined in this thread:

So, is this the answer then? Turbo Manifold - 2G DSM- Evo 8/9 Twin Scroll - Revshift | STORE - (Powered by CubeCart)

Does this mean that any true DSM downpipe to include intercooler will work without custom fabrication? If so, is the EVO IX turbo as large a turbo that can be ran or can something along the lines of the FP Black be installed?

Sounds like a plan. Can you make this happen for me? We can talk via PM if you prefer to prevent cluttering the thread. That being said, can I use any true DSM intercooler and downpipe?

Nope- the flange at the turbo is flipped 180* for the Evo VIII and IX turbos. I don't know what that place is marketing- it's damn near impossible to fit an Evo VIII or IX turbo on a DSM and keep things like P/S and A/C.

Nothing would fit without serious custom fabrication.

Not easily. Just finding an Evo X turbo at a good price is a chore within itself.

I see that with the effort involved with doing this for anything else other than the "I did this" factor is not worth it.

Well mine is done with my custom manifold... Just used flanged from the above manifold.

It does spool very quickly on my 2.3 and has awesome top end for being a 16g but what you said is correct, I mainly did it to be different and have something unique....
