Hey Guys I have a problem with my dsm. It is 96 GST spyder with 102,XXX miles on it. The old T-25 crapped out so I got it replaced. I purchased and installed(not me , but the shop) a used Evo III 16G (with 3,000mi. on it) , a boost controller , a boost gauge , an oil pressure gauge , 550 cc Injectors , 190lph fuel pump , a SAFC II ,and turbo timer. The SAFC is hooked up and installed but I haven't got the car tuned yet. The problem is that when I just picked up the car later today with all the parts installed and while driving home and reaching 12-15 lbs of boost , the car 'chokes'/sputters. It's like I can't reach full throttle. It's like the car wants to move and continue boosting but it chokes and sputters. I'm like wtf? What could be causing my car to sputter like this? Even though I have the SAFC and haven't used it , could the fact that it is on be f*ing things up? I have no idea and don't have the money this week to get the car tuned. If anything I will be bringing the car back to the shop on tuesday but I wanted to know what do you guys think the problem can be?

I didnt' do a boost leak test buy, I'm thinking for now until I get tuned , I should go back to the stock 450cc injectors . Can I do that? If so , I should turn the boost down though rite?

If you're afraid to attempt the tune, make sure the SAFC is zero'd out and use your stock injectors, you're probably running pig rich and getting near fuel cut with the EIII16g and no correction for the injectors with the SAFC.

With all those new variables in the system you have to tune your car to compensate for the bigger injectors, the bigger fuel pump, more fuel flow, more Boost, etc etc. If you don't tune your car will bog down, because your car is not calibrated for the right injectors and it will run rich. If you throw the smaller injectors back into your car that mights help a little, but until you get your car tuned, it probably will run like crap. and yes, until you fine tune, turn the boost down, just to be safe. After tuning HAVE FUN!

Anyone live in northern nj and want to tune my car for some money?
I'd greatly appreciate it.

Can you name some shops because the only one I go to is dogbox which is 65 miles from my house. Broadway performance sucks , and turbotrix is usually a two week wait. So who else do you suggest?

Check for boost leaks first, if you dont find any get it tuned with your 550cc injectors and 15-16 pounds you should be ok. You can also use this calculators and facts to decide if 550cc injectors could suit the fuel need for your 16G. :thumb:

I'm not trying to max of out just yet , I just want to get the car running normally and to get it tuned.

i would put in the stock injectors and go back to stock boost control. and get a WB and logger ASAP so you can tune

if you dont have a FMIC you should get one befor you go to 18-20 psi

I would recommend doing a boost leak test and just making saure the throttle points and normal settings for the safc are correct without a wideband I wouldn't recommend tuning it to far one way or another.

Should I buy the wideband for $200 or get the car tuned at Turbotrix for $300 and then buy the wideband (since they are a shop I assume they have a datalogger /wideband in house)
