New Turbo is loud. Blown?

I just finished my turbo, ic and fuel injector install on my car. Im not running any fuel management. Its a 91 auto talon ,rebuilt mild ported head, 3'' tsudo downpipe, free mods, K&n filter, 2g ported exhaust manifold, EVOIII GT big 16g turbo, Manual Boost controller, SBR tubular o2 housing, HKS Turbo catback, RC 550 injectors, Dejon smic hard pipe upper and lower, Dejon Super SMIC, extra Large Jpipe and Intake manifold elbow, Manual talon FPR, SBR braided Turbo oil line. Dejon cop ignition, Walbro 255 rewired, grounding kit. All I'm missing that I want is the dsm link, gm maf and an AFPR. The Turbo is fresh off a rebuild. I took the car for a test drive around the block a few times without putting it under boost. I feathered it but the turbo seems really loud. its an even nice spooling sound but it sounds kind of like a soft siren in the car when the windows are open. In a month I have to get the car tuned with dsm link and I dont want the turbo to have any problems. Is it normal with the big 16g's to have that loud spooling sound? I'm giving it a smoke test next week when I can get to the shop. what else should I do in the mean time? Its not my daily driver so I can let it sit. And should I try and give it some boost? it feels like it wants to get up and go but it was alot of work putting everything together and I dont want to mess it up.

Is the turbo a real mitsubishi or is it an ebay one?

I got it from turbochargers.com 3 years ago and had it rebuilt last year.

My small 16g starts to "whine" when it starts to really boost. I thought it was blown at first but Ive had it for a while now. It boosts fine and has absolutely no shaft play. Its probably just normal. Id check and double check for boost leaks though.

The turbo is not a true mitsu turbo. It is their GT model with the 34mm flapper and bigger casting. The engine is running really smooth. No smoke at all out the back. The SBR tubular o2 didnt give me enough clearance to put the o2 back so it isnt even running an o2 for now.Next week I'll do a boost leak test at the shop and I'm gonna tig a bung onto my downpipe for the o2. Do you think its safe to drive to the shop if I try to keep it out of boost? its around twenty miles. I can stop at my buddys house half way to let it cool as well. With the 550 injectors its probably running pretty rich right now especially with the programmed o2 mapping for when there is no o2 sensor. And the turbo spool is more than a whine its loud from the get go. I'm going to pull the intake off in the morning and take a look at the turbine and check it for play and damage. Ill keep you posted.

GT turbo's a tawian i believe. Get a real mitsubishi turbo because this is a major partfor your car, some parts you can skimp on other you can't

My s16g is pretty loud, i thought the same thing until i got in a couple friends cars and heard theirs along with running next to a bmw, god it was so loud i had to put my windows up! You should be fine, just keep an eye on the play of it....

maybe the loud whine noise is from a loose coupler. Try double checking everything. Had this happen to my friends x and tightening up the couplers solved the problem.
