new transmission

Greetings.

I currently have a 97 eclipse spyder gst that apparently needs a new transmission. My buddy back in the states (n.c) is taking care of the car while im stuck here in kuwaiit and iraq. Before i left, the car would pop out of 1st gear whenever i tried to start off in it, or if i gave it too much gas. I would hafta start it in 2nd gear most of the time.

anyways, he took it to a shop for me and emailed me back saying that the shop is asking 700 to repair it. now 700 for a "repair" seems pretty high to me....does anyone know of a place online or what not that has rebuilt eclipse fwd transmissions? just need some input here while im out in the sandbox...thanks

Well, for $200 more, you could have John Shepherd rebuild it and you'd never have to worry about it going bad again.

send it to TRE in Kalamazoo, MI. There standard rebuild is $1050, and its got lots of hours in work to it. Thats where mine went and i love it.

well i went with a shepherd racing transmission and its doing great.
