New to these cars what to look for????

Ok I just got a 93 Plymouth Laser. I beleive it has a 1.8 in it no turbo. Nice looking car, only paid $50 for it, but it smokes terribly, where should I start, I will do a compression test, but thinking I should pull the head and have it gone through, any suggestions? Thanks

Not really. You're doing right with the compression test. After that we'll know where to start. Other than that just regular maintenance should be fine. Give it a nice tune up with a timing belt job and you should be golden.

Pulling the head is probably your best bet, you may have leaky valve stem seals or bad headgasket.
