Just bought a 1996 eclipse GSX today. 90k miles on it, automatic. Throwing 3 codes. easy fixes, o2 sensors and TPS. Car has an aftermarket exhaust on it, but otherwise is stock. MY girlfreind is the actual owner, but i take care and mod our cars. I have a 2004 Nissan Sentra SER SPECV Turbo so im know my way around a vehicle. my question is: What are some free/cheap mods i can do to the car, and what are some basic mods i should do to the car first. CAI, plugs,wires? also what is the max amount of boost the factory turbo can put out before its junk and how much boost can the stock bottom end take before it needs osme upgrading

Downipe if not already installed and fmic kit. More free flowing filter to help it breath better. Plugs wise bpr6es or bpr7es (i run 7's with factory spec gap) and a good set of wires is pretty much up to you. I wouldnt push the t25 past 15/16 pounds. A 1g bov is a great upgrade because the 2g plastic is notorious for leaking boost. Bottom end wise i plan on tuning mine to an efficient 400+hp or whatever it takes to get me to a consistant 11 sec. 1/4 on pump. Will be using arp head studs also.Boost pressure would greatly depend on the size of the turbo your running. Have see over 400 on stock bottom end and head studs but its not recommended. Whats your plans for the car, drag autox, or just a fun street car?

Yeah... not talking shit, cause personally my car is in a state of disrepair.. but 13.5 shouldn't be too far off what that GSX does if it's in good working order. I seriously would bet that for less than 100 dollars you could get that car past 13.5 without much trouble.

With all the free mods on here and vfaq that dsm will break 13.5. Mbc, a 1g bov, k & n and the dsm will walk the sentra.

Make sure timing belt and other maintenance has been done first of all. With some pretty simple mods the car will easily run those times. As far as mods it depends on how far you want to go. Get a 14b something to tune with and look into the fuel system along with mods listed above.

Back in the day i had my rsx type S with intake, header, exhaust, rbc intake manifold and kpro tune and my buddy's gst with bolt ons and 16psi on t25 with ecm link tune spanked my rsx. So should be easy to make the gsx quicker then a Sentra.

Just some simple upgrades like air filter, fmi, and a maf translator that car would be fun to abuse.
