car is a 90 tsi, k&n, mbc set at 15psi, 255, 3" catback. 3rd gear pull and the temp was around 75-78 degrees. Obivously its leaning out but i dont know why, ive spent hours tryin to figure it out

You cannot determine A/F by looking at O2 volts. You are getting very little knock, if your knock sensor is working properly then you have nothing to worry about. Do you have a SAFC or anything to tune the fuel with?

No Safc yet, doin a throw out bearing in a talon for an safc II. i notice that after logging a buddies car that his factory fuel trims were all fifferent, like low throttle, mid and high, and like the high was at 138.8%, but all three trim levels in mine are sitting solid at 118.7%. do i have an ecu problem? the knock sensor is workin cause i was getting 43 counts of knock before i discovered that the knock sensor was not even finger tight. so i know thats working. the plugs also indicate im leaning out as well.

If your knock sensor is working and it's not showing any knock you should be ok. If it's really bothering you see if you can get access to a wideband to verify the A/F is ok. I wouldn't rely to heavily on reading the plugs. Unless you shut the car down immediately following the wot run you aren't going to get accurate results. Your fuel trims are probably off because of the fuel pump. You have a Walbro 255 correct?

That is a pretty quiet pull for showing such a lean condition. Is your o2 sensor really old by chance? Slow reacting while oscilating between lean and rich readings at cruise are good signs of a tired o2 sensor.

Yeah it looks like your o2 sensor may need replacing. Mine doesn't read right at WOT or idle, and I've got a check engine light for mine. The funny thing is, I got 29 mpg the other day...Then 27 on the next tank...?

How old is your O2 sensor? I see that your FT's are around 118%, is that at WOT or idle / cruise). If it is at idle then that means that the ECU is adding fuel to compensate for what it considers a lean condition (at idle cruise). When O2 sensors get old, they start reporting lower voltages than they should. This is why your ECU thinks you are running lean. Most likely, your O2 is old, tired and should be replaced.

Also, replacing your O2 sensor as recommended by the dealer is always a good idea. Right now your ECU is adding extra fuel when it doesn't have to. That means that you are burning more gas than you should be (not counting WOT). With today's gas prices, the $100 you spend on the O2 sensor will be paid back in no time.

If you do replace your O2 sensor, I always recommend spending the extra money and get one from the dealer.

Another thing that could cause your O2 to indicate a lean condition, is an exhaust leak before the O2 sensor. So you might want to look into that as well.

You can get an OEM one from jnztuning.com for about $75 bucks. Just so you know, since I was looking into finding the cheapest OEM one I could.

the a/f gauge sweeps rapidly back and forth just like it should at low and part throttle, and as soon as i hit WOT, it goes to full rich, and as boost increases it leans out. my plan as of now is to buy a fpr and gauge and verify fuel pressure. could a faulty oem fpr be the culprit since it doesnt seem to be adding fuel when its boosting? what about the logs i put earlier about the trim on low mid and high fuel trims? maybe something in the ecu?

Sounds like your talkin about a light show a/f guage. They are useless for tuning. Get a wideband and you will know what yor really dealing with or if you don't feel like springing for one find a local dyno shop and make a couple 3rd and 4th gear pulls and see where your a/f ratio is at cause they will have a wideband to hook up to your car that they will be part of your dyno time fee.

also, for some reason, my ft's are at 118.7 acroos the board, meaning that at wot, mid and low throttle, their all set at 118.7%. what does that mean, i just reset the ecu and they all started out at 100% and their going back to 118.7%, so what do theses numbers mean? sorry for such a newb question

Wow, I'm just going to stop posting if no one reads it. :toobad:

Sorry man, my bad, dont get all upset......I just replaced the o2 about 2 months ago. sorry for leaving that out.

Ok, the problem has been fixed. when i replaced the o2, it came out of a running car, so it was used, but for some reason it didnt agree with the talon. so a fellow dsm'er mailed me and said for sure it was an o2, and at this point i was willing to try n e thing. so from schucks for $80, i pick up a new and got it put in and it runs perfect, o2 voltage is .89 the whole way, thanx guys.
