I just bought my 92 talon esi yesterday. i bought it knowing about the idle problem. Yesterday when i was driving around town at stop lights it would jump from 1000 rpm to 1500 rpm. I checked out the idle set screw after i got some information of this website. Mine has a single lead wire that comes out of it. I unplugged it yesterday and it quit the idle surge. I dinked around with it today and adjusted the height on it. now it idles at a solid 2000 rpm with no up and down. I tried setting it down and still nuthing happened still idles high. If anyone could give me some input i would really appreciate it. I really like my new talon and i want to keep it running for a while. thanks jaime kussmaul

Try screwing the idle in (clockwise) until the idle comes down to 800-1000rpms. It sounds like the idle was a hair too high, then you advanced it even further. Try going the other way with it. When you bring it back down, if it continues to surge at stop lights, go a little further with it. See if this helps a little. You should eventually find a happy spot where it hovers around 1000 and doesn't surge so badly. If this doesn't get you anywhere, post an update about what happened.
