I just bought this starter from Advance.

I put it in and when I try to start it, all it does is make a slight grinding noise and a whirring sound. I took the starter back out and moved the teeth around some and put it back in and got the same thing. I really need my car to start so I can get to work tomorrow so I need some quick help. I'm gonna go outside and mess with it some more but I'll be back on here to check periodically.

Heh....all the starters are the same, 1g, 2g, FWD, AWD, AT, MT..... or at least interchangeable.

Either the bendix wasn't kicking the drive into place or you left the small wire off when hooking it up.

i disagree. i had a similar problem with a starter. i pulled my starter and called up a local parts store. they didn't have any EAGLE parts so i ordered a mitsu starter. when i got there there was a noticable difference in the amount of outward travel allowed but the shroud or cone or whatever you wanna call it almost a quarterinch. believe what you want to about the starters this is just my experiance.
