I have this issue where my car won’t go into reverse if I go straight from park. It will act like it’s in neutral. I have to go to drive to reverse for it to go into reverse. Then if I go into drive, it starts in second and I have to go to L for it to go into first. It also takes a couple seconds of driving forward for it to downshift to first. I am about to lose my mind as this doesn’t make any sense.

I’ve had this car for a year and have yet to be able to take it on a drive. I have tried different TCUs, swapped in different set of solenoids and also cut the wire at the solenoid plug and ran it straight to the wire at the TCU and same issue.

Trans fluid and filter are fresh with 5 miles on them. Trans fluid to the full mark. Tried adjusting the cable linkage and setting neutral safety switch to no prevail. Am I looking at a valve body related issue? If I have the pressure solenoid unhooked then it will slam into reverse straight from park.

Any help is greatly appreciated. Car is a 1997 Eclipse GSX
