I own a 1996 talon tsi fwd, i recently replaced my shocks with tokico blues and eibach pro kit, the car has a horrible ride that it more noticable in the front, when you look in though the fender at the shock there is only about an inch gap between the bump stop and the bottom of the shock, is that normal? I did cut over half of the bump stop whem installing the set-up.

The issues isn't the shock as much as it is the springs. I don't think eibach made good choices in the trade off between suspension drop and spring rate and as a result you wind up beating the bump stops to death and the resulting harshness from hitting the stops all the time.

In most cases the Tein's are even softer than the Eibach's so I would not recommend those to resolve your issue. I would recommend some H&R springs which generally have higher spring rates than both. If you feel your struts may be somewhat blown, I recall that Tokico offers lifetime warranty. Blues are a step up from say KYB GR-2's.

Even though they'd have a shorter spring rate, wouldn't they be stiffer than the stockers ?

When you drop the suspension more then about a 1 inch you can expect a harsh ride. When you put the H&R springs on your car it will still ride "hard" and you will still occasionally hit the bump stops because of the diminished wheel travel. Its a tough trade off and I promised myself not to ever do that mod again! It looks SWEET when the car is parked on the street but, that's where the fun ended for me. When driving at high speeds on the highway ( something most of us BOOST JUNKIES do often), I would encounter the occasional dip in the highway and sometimes it felt like I would lose control of my car. I removed all of that stuff and now i'm back to stock ride height. What ever you decide just make sure you feel safe when driving your car.
