I was just thinking the other day, and the only thing I really dont like about my 2G is it rides basically like a skateboard. I dont expect it to be a luxury car or anything, but the car clangs over bumps. What would be recommended for a street car? I was looking at lowering the car slightly in the future, but it seems like unless you run coilovers, the lowering springs go from about 1" to about 2", which I think would be way too low. Any recommendations would be welcome. I'd be open to running anything really, if I have to save to get the car to ride properly than that's gonna be what will have to happen. No point in wasting money on something that wont work.

Put it on airbags or enjoy the stiffness LOL. A 2g even on stock suspension rides like shit.

Change all your bushings. Subframe, control arms etc. Get new shocks and springs too. Not much you can do besides that. Dsms arent very luxurious.

My suggestion is, but I'm just guessing because I have not wanted to try this; running a taller sidewall tire in a smaller rim, stock springs on koni yellows set full soft would get you closest to a plush ride in a 2g.

Also the clunking over bumps can be sway bar links clunking. Make sure your suspension is tight, no loose tie rods or ball joints. I'm on megan coilovers street series and I actually love the ride. I can honestly compare it to any luxury car with a sport/race suspension setup. I also used a lot of undercoating in the trunk and in between the rear subframe and car. Also put insulation all over the rear quarter panels where the speakers are. This silenced the interior significantly from road noise to the 3inch exhaust. I also run a Toyo 235/40/18 tire which is a bit tall for my taste but handles road noise & potholes quite well.

Yeah I planned on having the car undercoated (currently has none and is noticeably louder than the old car was that had it). I'm running stock 16's at the moment. I'll keep that in mind about the Megans, I was looking into those. I know that once you have an aftermarket coilover spring options open up a lot as well.

DG spec konis coilovers here and rides good, even with 140k mile oem suspension bushings on everything. Way better then my blown kyb agx on eibach pros. Lowering springs only make the ride worse.
Dam right! I was thinking raiseing my laser an inch never mind lower it haha roads are bad here
