I developed a new rattling sound upon startup today. Only started today because I switched my ECMLink over to a newer laptop.

Drove the car the other day and it ran perfectly. Upon startup today it sounded funny and my car also threw an EVAP code which it has never done before. Have a rattling noise coming from engine which sounds like a bad pulley or something. Does it from idle to 2800 rpm and disappears above that. Just checking if anyone has an idea before I tear apart the entire belt system to look for something. I'm 71 and still love playing with this pain in the butt.

Polite suggestions would be appreciated.

Drivetrain is far from stock. It has a built automatic trans from IPT transmissions. Engine has Manley H beam rods, OEM crank. Wiseco pistons, Kelford 264 cams (biggest I could go without losing all vacuum), FP ported and coated exhaust manifold, FP HP68HTA turbo, stage 2 head with beehive springs, 3" O2 elbow back Tanabe exhaust (no muffler or cat)

So many automatic!!! A lill jealous.
Can you post a video ?

Is it possible you selected something on the last/new PC and didn’t notice can you compare logs ?

Can you play with any EVAP related options as a test?

I’m doubtful link has the ability to do what you’re describing. But I’ve been known to be mistaken before.

I copied the file directly from the ECU to the new laptop so there should have been no errors or mistakes. I am pretty sure that it is a bad pulley because I have seen small shavings down along the side of the timing belt cover for a little while now. The weird thing is that it ran absolutely perfect three days ago and when I park the car in two days later, it did this on start up, but I will start to disassemble slowly and look at everything.

It looks like three profiles for the same nice looking car.

I second the thought that this is not ECMLink related but if you post your current log (use Add Photos and select an .elg file) we can double check.

It’s really hard to diagnose these kind of problems over the internet through a description. It’s best to take a look yourself to at least determine around where the noise is coming from and/or take a video for us to help.

I would take a look at your crank pulley for sure and any others there shouldn’t be any shavings on the timing cover. Check belt tension as well.
