2G 95 FWD Tsi---New head, used bottom end. I know the bottom end is ok. Just dropped the motor in.
I put the motor together, but had a torque issue on one or two head bolts (over torqued) so I backed them out and started over again. I was going by the wrong torque diagram (tried going to 70 ft/lbs instead of the suggested way... turning 1/4 turn, turning 1/4 turn, etc... It is all fixed now. COULD have compressed the HG, but I thought that took time to do.
Anyway, the hood is off and there is a tarp over it. I didnt have an oil cap in it. It rained, tarp blew off, and I got some water in the head through the oil cap hole. I started the car, saw the oil was milky/frothy and I immediately changed the filter and oil. I didn't think that much water got in there.
I start it up again, look in the valve cover, and it is frothy again! Not like chocolate milk, but like a vanilla milkshake.
I checked compression and I have 140 on all 4, which is fine.
The Headgasket is new. I drained a little coolant out the bottom of the radiator, it looks fine (no oil)!
I filled the motor up with coolant, and it seems fine. I ran it for about 8 min. total and I don't think the thermostat opened up yet because there wasn't coolant flowing on the top hose. I opened the coolant fill cap and it was dry. I added more and it took quite a bit more (maybe two cups). I was afraid to run it more with the oil in bad shape.
I guess my question would be...Has anyone ever had a similar problem? I don't have a problem changing the HG, I even have a spare, but I dont think that is the problem. All my hoses/turbo hoses are routed right, i verified those. Could it be the oil cooler? I know coolant runs through there, has anyone ever heard of an oil cooler going bad and letting coolant in the oil? Or does it take several oil and filter changes to get all the water out (from when I left the cap out) and I am just being paranoid?
