In my quest to find a FUN turbo to run on a 2.3 powered evo 1, I found a turbo I have never heard of before. If you have been around the dsm thing for a while it doesn't take long to realize mitsubishi turbos kickarse comparred to garrett or turbonetics stuff. I think the best example of this is the 20g vs 50trim turbos. I have driven handfuls of both and would choose a 20g in a heartbeat. I have also had very good success with a 25g, which I think was actually more fun than the 35r that I am currently running on my yellow car. In my build-up of my evo1 I was looking for a turbo that was inbetween the 20g and 25g turbos without having to go garrett. Here is a comparrison of what wheels flow.

evo16 600cfm
20g 650 cfm
50trim 700cfm
24v 800cfm
25g 850cfm
60-1 900cfm

I have a 24v turbo here and have been comparring it to the 60-1 wheel. .It is the same 7 splitter design. It has all the same great mistubishi quality that makes mitsubishi wheels shine. The wheel is 1mm smaller inducer, but 2mm larger exducer. Blade thinckness is same mitsu quality .025 thick vs .034(60-1). Same small hub like evo16. blade dept is about 3mm deeper than 60-1 at the middle of the blade. 18mm vs 15mm (very opproximate). This wheel should be very lite comparred to 50trim or 60trim, Should perform very nicely. The turbo comes with a very sheek 4inch inlet ported compressor cover. very near the size of s cover. Good stuff. Oh did I mention you can get these turbos for half of what a new green or red would cost you. Turbo is 625 shipped from japan . It comes with useless 12 or 16cm ex side so you will have to source a 7 or 8cm or bullseye housing.

Cheers,
lancerman

Some comparison info from the Mirage Turbo/Colt GT board that I managed to dig out of Google's cache:

OK here is a list of turbos I have collected info on in the past few years. Maybe this will help clear up and confusion.

TDO4-11B Stock turbo on a 4G61T 1989 4cm exhaust housing.
TDO4H-13C Can be found on the Lebaron GTs. Exhaust housing will have to be replaced by your stock exhaust housing and machined to accept the TDO4H exhaust wheel. Lebarons exhaust housing will not bolt onto your stock header/manifold. 330cfm@15psi of boost.
TDO4H-13G DSM Automatics. 360cfm@15psi of boost. 5cm exhaust housing.
TDO4H-15G Upgrade turbo sold in Europe and Japan. 440cfm@15psi of boost. 5cm exhaust housing.

TDO5-12A stock Starion/Conquest turbo1986-1989. 320 cfms@15psi of boost. 8 cm exhaust housing. exhaust housing is not a direct bolt up to a DSM. Cartrideg and compressor could be swapped into a TDO5 DSM exhaust housing if needed in a quick replacement but not recommended.
TDO5-14B Stock DSM turbo here in the USA. 420cfm@15PSi of boost. 6cm exhaust housing. Can upgrade exhaust housing for more midrange to top end using the 7cm exhaust housing.
TDO5-14G Upgrade turbo for the Starions and Conquests. 465cfm@15PSi of boost. Starion and Conquests came stock with 8cm exhaust housings. Top use on a DSM you will want to take a 6cm or 7cm exhaust housing from a DSM and install it due to the fact the 8cm exhaust housing uses a different downpipe bolt pattern and shape is different to make installation much harder and require custom fabrication.

I couldn't agree with you more :thumb:

I've got a 7cm housing for a 6H wheel sitting here, brand hew. I might be convinced to part with it if you need one ;)

This turbo sounds interesting and could be a potent upgrade for us 20g fans who want a little more top end while maintaining that Mitsu quality. Keep us informed. Do you have a compressor map?

I called hahn about the 22c and 23d wheels. They said those wheels do not exist. It will be a while before I try this 24v on my car. I want to get the car setup with the td06h/25g first. I did buy too so the other may get tried on a customers if I can convince someone it will be a good turbo. I will post some pics later. I am trying to get the map for it.

You guys like that one? I think I got a crate of that stuff. Never thought to try it on a race car. Hmmmmmmmmmm. I'll have to look around my bins, I know I bought a bunch of surplus/overstock on this a couple years ago.

btw gst, there's the 23a wheel, it originally goes on a fuso truck, but if it will work for you, you might want to check it out. i got some access to them, but they're relatively expensive.

also curious about getting these turbos wholesale or in bulk, if they are 625 from mitsu, how much could they be wholesale!?>!1

give me a mitsu part number and i can find out in like 10 minutes :)

hmm, i doubt it will be a dealer part number, just liek I got the tdo5/td06 rebuild kit for my friends 20g, all that stuff was diffferent MHI part number, I called several dealers and they said it dont pop up in their system, so I bet this is the same deal.

so is the 24v turbo a td06 or is it the td07? because the 23a c/w that i found (that mitsu has btw) is a td07 wheel

So, how much would it be to piece one of these together with a new 8cm^2 turbine housing? I don't know pricing on turbine housings. Do you think it would work better with a 7cm^2 or 8cm^2 housing?

i'd have to say it would work better w/ a 7cm2 hsg for a bit faster spool....

Do you have any experience with this turbo, or insight into what the compressor map says about its function on a 4G63? If you've got more information, give us the inside scoop. :) I'm not really interested in running one of these turbos, but I do have a natural curiosity in what it is capable of.

I always wanted to run a 20g/TD06H...but I knew I would want more. This might be as close as I can get while staying mitsu.

Actually I was kidding. The red and green turbos make Robert a lot of money. Buy a tdo6h 20g for 450. Sell the 20g wheel for 170. Add 30$ 50trim wheel, machine housings. Call it a green. Green for big profit. Thats not gonna work for the 24V now is it?

I can't get the map for the 24V. Mitsubishi does not release that info to the public.

Theres a few photos of the 24v next to a 60-1 if anyone wants to see what she looks like.

Haha, if you think it is that simple and cheap, you should start selling/making them yourself.
Good luck with that Jerome.;) :thumb:

ok, the 22c wheel is on a Banks turbo kit for the ford powerstroke. you'd have to go through banks on that deal because its not in mitsu computer system.

the 23d wheel either doesn't exist or its one of those that somebody has custom made. either way i don't have a cross for it.
