So as the title says I am a new member and a proud owner of a 99 eclipse RS I just purchased. For the past 6 months I have been driving a beat up 95 avenger with a 420a and well I really like it. I have been looking for an eclipse for awhile now cause I know it has the same engine and I finally found one.

This is my new car. 1999 Eclipse RS (non-turbo automatic)

My future plans... completely rebuild the engine in the Avenger (cause the heads already have 20 hours of port work) new cam, gears, pully, pistons & full machine work to the block. swap the automatic for standard tranny. and finally turbo

i plan to start the motor rebuild soon and then next summer probably take a 1 week vacation at work and do the swap.

Hope to participate in the forums more!

Nice lookin eclipse. Very clean. You shouldn't need a week to swap the engine out. it drops out of the bottom fairly easy, Ive dropped engines in both NA and turbo DSM's, got them both dropp0ed out in a single day. :D

1 week off is for tuning and enjoying it!

I was just watching videos of the brian crower 280 cams ... :hellyeah:

was wondering.. is there a transmission that is strong enough for the 420a thats automatic? (after boost)

Nice man, real clean. I had a 99 eclipse GS, I loved it mine was fresh, and I was going to turbo it as well. My motor was fully re-built. It was a fun car now I have a 95 gst fully built haha, have fun with it man

Nice..! looks like mine when I got it except mine had the fogs and the gs-t wheels...

Looks like you have one solid plan to go with, but about the auto tranny I dont know anything about that but I guess it would be really cool to have a 400+hp auto 420a... Good luck with the build!

Yea I'm not a big fan of the rims either but I have some good rims and tires ready for it.

definitely will not be staying auto. looking for a donor car with the standard tranny things i need.
