Hello Everyone! I recently Purchased a 97 GS-T Spyder. Shes really clean No rust and solid body, few dings and such.
I got her for a Steal at 2500.

She's a 5 Speed.
everything works as it should almost.

So the Person that owned this car modded the engine well enough but hacked the interior so im working on undoing that.

She has 113K miles on her.

The only problem im having now is the car doesnt start with the key, When i went to look it at it did, but the starter went that day or at least I thought it was the starter.
when i turn the key nothing happens. I did search the forums and for good measure I've changed the starter (didnt fix it) so im going to do the relay and the Clutch switch. Im actually on the phone right now with a Mitsubishi dealer waiting for them to find the parts.

Anyways, i'm pretty happy even though she wont start, I can pop it. Im connected strongly in the area with all the Local Shops so I have a few of them that have offered to fix it for me free of charge, but i'd like to do it myself.

So, its been a coupe of months. Let me fill everyone in. The car sat at the mechanics garage for a month. he couldnt figure it out. He changed the Starter, The Battery, and the starter relay. Then said take it back. I took it home and figured the only thing left was the ignition switch. Take off the plastic around the steering wheel and the one under it (that holds the square yellow box in it) and as i prepare for this job, I noticed a wire with a butt connector, its not connected. I connect it and turn the key. All fixed! That fixed that problem, Then the turbo failed. tried finding a evo 3 turbo, from here and everywhere else. I purchased one from someone on here, he started ignoring my text and calls then sends it, its a fake. i returned it to the sender. I purchase a 14b turbo locally from someone and as i go to replace the turbo, i noticed the ring that holds the hot and cold together is loose, tighten that up, turbo wasnt bad after all, so now i have a 14b sitting around. still looking to upgrade it. also tons of crap was done to this car and im still learning what has be done. I figured out how to use the apexi unit for hte super air flow converter, still running rich cause im going through gas real fast. now imm working on mounts cause the engine rocks really bad. did drivers side mount going to do the bottom mount next, also the control arms are bad,, already replaced the lateral arms but now im getting a clunking sound. wondering if its cause the mounts are shot. Did an oil change, only had like 1 qt of oil in there, as i get under the car (that was lowered btw) I noticed the oil feed or return (the small J that goes from the pan to the turbo) is fine but the oil pan around the bolts has be jb welded, and im losing oil out of there. SO! im slowly rebuilding this car, finding the parts isnt easy and everyone either wants a crap ton of money or i cant find what i need (Like a genuine e316G
 
Nice find. Get that interior fixed up. And don't forget while you're sorting all the previous mods, do the regular maintenance stuff, too! Good luck with her, looking forward to seeing your progress.
 
I've got a 99 Spyder, it's been pretty faithful with good maintenance. Good luck with the revival. Do your timing belt if it hasn't been done recently. Fix your leaks, replace your seals and probably vc gasket. Do a boost leak test. I'd be surprised if you don't leak at the BISS screw and the throttle body seals. Replace your small coolant hoses. I almost lost my engine from a 1/4 inch split. If you are going to replace your lower mount, you may as well replace the clutch and pressure plate. Southbend makes a great pressure plate!! Check TMZ. For turbo check our forum for a rebuilder it'll be obvious who I'm referring to. He'll tell you what you need if you tell him what your goals are, and he is super customer service/satisfaction oriented.
